Heavy rain this morning put a stop to what I was going to do today, but it gave me a chance to unpack what received from Monnie on Friday. (Anyone who's ever had Monnie as a partner knows that you need to set aside some time to unpack one of her massive packages!)

In several little green flowered pouches there were a container of chai tea, bags of burdock root chai and dandelion root chai, and a dozen bags of other loose herbs:
chamomile, burdock root, calendula, comfrey, sage, St. John's wort, stinging nettle, hyssop, dandelion leaf, root and flower, and green tea.

Then there was a bag of body powder (really nice scent), a jar of "Granny's Herbal Salve", a bar of homemade shaving soap (which is exactly the right size to fit my shaving mug!), a small blank "Herbs" notebook, more empty bags (always handy) and a whole bunch of empty jars, phials and containers, including some very attractive Avon jars. So useful!

More Avon bottles, and a bag of empty plastic bottles and containers. Believe it or not, I went to three or four dollar stores last week looking for exactly this kind of little plastic bottle, and couldn't find any! Thanks for reading my mind, Monnie! Cheesy

There were actually two of these black and orange patchwork aprons storage rolls (I just realized), with pockets - there was so much in the box I missed the second one! It was very thoughtful of you to include this blue flowered carry bag, Monnie, because of course I couldn't possibly fit everything back into the box and needed it to carry my loot back into the house! Grin There's a little jar of Eucalyptus Congestion Balm, a wooden box with woodburned decoration, and a large card file box with a set of herbal recipe and information cards.

And finally (almost to the bottom of the box!) there are five bottles of essential oils: sandalwood, lemon, bergamot, patchouli and vetiver (one of my favourite scents!), a pouch of assorted stones (the three at the front are magnets) and a great mini binder with sleeves to hold file cards. I haven't seen anything like this before - it's such a useful idea!

Thanks, Monnie! I love being your partner for swaps, because your packages are always so jam-packed and so varied!

It's always takes a good sit down to read through the post her partners post in the galleries too!  Haha!  =)

I'm really intrigued about the burdock and dandelion chai teas!  Never heard of these alternatives but I'll make a point of looking into it.  I can always use more dandelion in my life.  Nice package!

I think I sent him the recipe, it's just my home made chai with dandelion and burdock, I find them bitter so it helps Smiley

Yes, you included the recipe for the chai in the recipe box. I have to admit I haven't tried either of them yet. I keep intending to, but the whole process of going upstairs, putting the kettle on, putting tea in a cup... I keep getting distracted by other tasks and by the time I remember again I'm doing something else. I think I'll go get some ready right now...

I received from dharma_rebel today.  Two boxes!

And in box 1...

we have...

A book on medicinal uses for herbs, a lavender scrub, and an herbal drying rack from my Pinterest.  I am nervous about anything that uses tools, so I greatly appreciate the drying rack.  And the scrub is awesome - I love anything with lavender, and I don't know why I have never tried to make it myself.  And the book is huge, so I have some reading to do.  Smiley

And in the second box was...a basket!

I seriously love the basket itself - it is so cute.  But inside there is...

A chamomile hair tea rinse that I'm excited to use.  She also sent a salve with plantain she wild crafted herself to help with bug bite/itch as well as bug spray.  Our house backs up to a creek that has stagnant water in the summer and we seem to be at ground zero for West Nile virus here, so these will both go to good use.  I was just wishing I had something for bug bites a few nights ago.

Thank you dharma_rebel - I love it all!

OH I love the idea of a drying rack!  I would love to see the Pin from Pinterest  Wink

I am also a huge fan of lavender. After buying all sorts of fun essential oils I think sage may be a close second.  Does anyone have a good and cheap place online they like to purchase from?  I NEED to expand my collection.

Yay! I'm so glad you liked everything, donniesgirl. I will admit, my dad helped me with the herb dryer just a little bit. Cheesy  I'm glad everything got there in one piece. When I found the basket at the thrift store I knew I had to figure out a way to make it work for this swap. So happy that everything will be useful!

I have Green Pharmacy too. I like it because the medical information is detailed and believable. He doesn't just say "Don't take any herbal remedies if you're pregnant", but gives specific information about what is fine and what to avoid and why. The same thing for people taking common pharmaceutical therapies, other medical conditions, etc. A great find!

Thanks for the tip on K&W Specialties, Monnie. Their website is desperately in need of an upgrade, but they have a great range of products. I think I may order some soap-making supplies from them.

And speaking of Monnie, I got my supplementary package today, containing bottles of Dandelion, Burdock and Chamomile tinctures. Of course I immediately had to taste them. Burdock is what I expected Dandelion to taste like: bitter and rather sharp. Dandelion is less bitter and more like burnt caramel. And Chamomile is surprisingly spicy - almost cinnamon-like. So now I know. Thanks, Monnie!

Does anyone have a good and cheap place online they like to purchase from?  I NEED to expand my collection.

Seeing as how you're in the US, I'd definitely recommend Mountain Rose Herbs!!

I'm in Canada and like to deal with either New Directions Aromatics or Saffire Blue.  Thanks for sharing Monnie, I'm going to look into your suggestion as well.

Oooh, James Duke!!  I've had some of his stuff wished for on Amazon for a really long time!!  And that harvesting basket, I could have used on of those yesterday!  I collected 10 pounds of rhubarb from my garden in the rain and it was more of a challenge to bring it into the house while holding an umbrella than I was expecting.

Ok I got my wonderful package yesterday from dreadlocklove and man oh man did it smell GREAT!  She defiantly played to my love of lavender and I am so thrilled  Grin

First is a set of 4 bath bombs, two bars of soap, and a lip balm.  All contain lavender and smell great!  I have already been using the lip balm and it a feels nice on my lips.  I am not sure what else is in it but I love it.

Next up is the basket with all of the bath lovelies in it.  It is a very sturdy crocheted basket with handles, I carried most of my haul in it to take pictures and it held it all just fine.  I love the colors too.

Next is a hand/body/face lotion made with vitamin E.  I was very excited to receive this as I am beginning to realize how poorly I take care of my skin.  My face and arms in particular as they get the most sun.  Also in this picture is a loose incense smudge mix that she purchased online.  It contains lavender ( Grin ), cedar, sage, rosemary, and black Etheopean resin.  It smells great and I look forward to using it to help cleanse our rental once we get to Oklahoma.

Here is a spicy bbq spice run that is coming on the road with us.  Both my husband and my dad are big bbq buffs and we are staying with my parents for a few days in between NJ and OK so this will get used soon.  Also some spruce tip salt, I am not sure what I will be using this for, but I love trying new things.

Here are two jars of jellies.  There is a spruce tip jelly and a lilac jelly.  I am especially curious about the lilac jelly as it is my second favorite flower and floral scent!

These are two adorable crocheted coasters with tiny leaves.  These will defiantly find a home on my everyday altar once it gets set back up in Oklahoma.

Lastly is some herbs.  A very large bag of ceremonial white sage (one of my specific wishes!) Some while harvested Sweet Fern from dreadlocklove's cottage.  She tells me this can be used in tea or burned as incense.  I plan to try it both ways.  Also there is some Orange Mint and celeriac leaves.  I plan to use the mint in tea and the celeriac leaves in cooking, most likely when I make some veggie stock for the freezer.

Thank you so much!  I am very excited to try out some new things that you sent me as well as enjoying all the fabulous lavender products.

My partner Gingerpeachy has received her stuff, but she is super busy with awesome life stuff right now, so I offered to post pictures of the stuff I sent.

Firstly, a lavender-scented eye pillow, because as Ginger said, you can't have too many!

Then, a few tea-infused beeswax candles (I used this tutorial: http://ru-bees.com/blogs/news/7773787-making-herbal-tea-infused-beeswax-candles). One is Earl Grey Creme, and the other is lavender hibiscus. I had never made candles before!

I also made her a neck-warmer (or bed buddy or whatever). The outer sleeve is knitted washable wool, and the inner sack is muslin filled with flax, chamomile, and peppermint, with a little lavender essential oil.

I included some cleavers that I picked from the alley behind my house, and an herbal tea blend, in weird little tins that I found at the craft store!

I received my package today, and will be posting those pictures soon.

I received Saturday-ish (checked mail Monday) from Jnny_heck. At the moment I'm fighting with my cat over a couple items. :|

First: Hair Teas: Stimulating: rosemary, parsley, green tea, lemongrass, nettle, spearmint
Relax: (and I'm fighting my cat over this): catnip, lemon balm, chamomile, flax, thyme
a bag of marigold seeds
Some little wooden plant signs (Rosemary, basil)... I'm fighting my cat over these too. She wants to chew the wires.

Then ... a hand-stamped "How to grow sprouts" book, with a jar... pre-marked with fill line and holes punched in the lid. Alfalfa seets, a broccoli brassica blend, and ancient eastern blend. I can't wait to try this!

I think I got everything! I was looking at the items to describe what was in the photos, but my cat is now napping on top of everything. And biting or scratching if I try touching any of it.

I guess.... my cat really loves everything you sent her Cheesy hahaha.

I'm back from the cottage.  Here is some of what I received from my partner, whileitsraining:

On the left is a hot/cold rice lavender & chamomile rice pack.  The aroma had filled the box, such a nice combo!  Next is a lemon/eucalyptus food powder and shaker.  My kids like to wear their shoes without socks on so this will be really useful for them.  Onto the herbs.  Lemon balm, witch hazel, licorice root, and lavender (nice big flowers!).  I received a three varieties of tea too.  Ceylon black tea, peppermint tisane, and a matcha Genmaicha.  I LOVE matcha, I use it frequently in green smoothies, but have never tried with rice.  Can't wait!!

At the bottom is a large piece of fabric.  I haven't received the note yet so I'm not sure what it's about.  Perhaps an in-progress project?  It looks similar to how the skirt I received would have been made.  I didn't get a photo because I've been wearing it all weekend and it's in the laundry.  But it's very lightweight and flows nicely.  Same fabric as the one shown except a different pattern.

Also not shown in the photo, because I used it last Friday and left it on my dresser (I usually keep everything in a pile until the photos are taken and posted to the gallery), some handmade deodorant that I wished for.  The essential oil blend is sage and sweet orange.  It's very uplifting.

Thanks so much whileitsraining!

Ooh lemon verbana and candied violets!! Envious of those!

I too am envious about those candied violets!  And the ginger mint too!  How does that taste?  And about the Florida water..  I had to Google to see what that was all about.  I thought it was maybe some spring water from Florida or something but now know it's an bath and body product.  Ah!!

Those tea-infused candles look super cool!!  I'm going to take a look at the instructions and make myself a few.  I hope it'll be easy!  =)

The sprouts are a good reminder that I need to get back to sprouting!  Love those markers too.

Mmmm, ginger chocolates!  It probably took a while to open and smell all of those products...

____

We're still waiting on one package to arrive and I think three people to post photos to the gallery.  If your partner hasn't done so already, maybe post on their behalf if possible?

So sorry for the delay in posting pics. I got my package and then, well, life happened. Thank you Mercury retro...
Without further ado, here are the lovelies I received from donniesgirl

Ceres Delight (scrub/mask for face and body) I used this yesterday on my face. It's feeling so soft. I suppose I should have taken a pic with the mask on.  Wink  Also Ocean Lavender Treatment (cleansing for face and body), Gardeners hand scrub - I can't wait to use this today, and a lavender rug/carpet powder that will get used after each visit from my parents (and their dog). Not pictured because it didn't survive the journey is coconut lavender oil. But it sure made the package smell heavenly!

Chai tea eye pillow that smells amazing, smudge sticks that she made herself! I'm really looking forward to using those. LABELS!!! I've never had labels for my sewing projects before. These are beautiful!!! I'm not excited at all!!!11!!!1!! A packet of bluebonnet seeds (the Texas state flower), yummy teas (including her son's favorite tea for my daughter)

A book "Desserts from an Herb Garden". I can't wait to share this with the mamas today while our kids are spending time in the garden with their Young Roots club.

Gathering apron down...

All tied up! I cannot wait to use this in the garden!!!

Thank you so much. I had so much fun crafting for this swap and love everything I received. I cannot wait to join this one again!

Dharma, first I have to say, you are so beautiful!  And yeah, mercury retrograde affects me hard about two or three weeks before it actually starts.  Something "bad" happens and then I Google the schedule and sure enough, it's approaching...  =)

That apron turned out really nice!!  And do you mind taking a few photos of the inside of the Desserts book?  I've had that book on my Amazon wishlist since September 22, 2009!!  Make sure they're closeups, ok?  Hehe.  Just kidding.  Lucky you though!!

That apron turned out really nice!!  And do you mind taking a few photos of the inside of the Desserts book?  I've had that book on my Amazon wishlist since September 22, 2009!!  Make sure they're closeups, ok?  Hehe.  Just kidding.  Lucky you though!!

Awwww... thank you so much! You just totally  made my day!

I'd be happy to send you a PM with some recipes if there is anything in particular you are interested in...

My partner hasn't sent me the note yet so all I know is the essential oil blend.  Lemon and eucalyptus.  Maybe she can fill you in more.  Or browse Pinterest for some ideas.

Sorry guys! Wasn't trying to ignore your questions.

The large mystery fabric item is a scarf/tie skirt/bandana top.  I made it on the larger side because when I wear mine I like to wrap the scarf around my head like a bandana then around my hair and roll the hair/scarf into a bun at the nape of my neck and wasn't sure how long your hair was. I also sometimes like to tie it around my waist over a skirt. I just really like the flow and feel of the material and thought it would be perfect for the hot summer weather.

The foot powder is equal parts baking soda and cornstarch with Lemon and Eucalyptus essential oils. You just shake a little into the shoes at night and then knock them out before you wear them again.  The homemade deoderant is 1/2 cup arrowroot powder, 1/2 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup coconut oil, and shea butter.  I ran out of arrowroot powder (didn't read the recipe before I went to the store)  so I didn't get a chance to make any for myself, how is it working?  I really want to try using this myself.

I mainly use my rice packs as cold packs when I get migraines so I used soothing/relaxing scents.  I am very glad you like the skirt!  I didn't use an actual pattern, just a how to tutorial so I was quite pleased it turned out Smiley Also the licorice root is a new one for me, but I was told it helped with cleansing and digestive issues.

It is one of my favorite cookbooks.   Smiley  Lemon balm bars, mint truffles, poached pears with sage & honey glaze, apricot rosemary rice pudding...I haven't made one bad thing out of there.

I received a lovely, fragrant package from gingerpeachy!

Here it all is in the box:

A bunch of scented shea butter soap! My husband also appreciates this - he loves yummy-smelling soap too! The soaps are lavender,  cedarwood pine, lime cypress, and orange tea tree.

Lavender sugar scrub (I spent time in Provence as a small child so my love of lavender is deeply ingrained), aromatherapy spray that smells like vanilla, natural deodorant, and passionfruit rose lip balm!

Wild-harvested chamomile, and marshmallow root:

Thanks Ginger!!!!!!!

I received from Eclectic Dreamer, and what a lovely package!  Thank you so much for this fun and useful swap!

First she sent me many dried herbs that she picked and from her herbs: mullein, St. John's wort, stinging nettle, comfrey.  She also sent some Ball labels that disintegrate when washed, and lavender massage oil (not pictured!  Shocked oops!)

Next, she sewed a few projects for herb foraging/gathering.  An apron with great, whipmsical pattern on the front.

Tote bag with very beautiful (and soft!) floral fabric

A zippered pouch and fabric squares- cue mushroom, and botanical mushroom (love mushrooms-- how did you know?)

Denim gathering bag with long strap to wear around body and short handle to hold bag open Smiley  All made from re-used fabrics (very soft)

Finally, she included a two-piece picnic set! It folds up to be a basket or down to lay as a mat.  Very cute!

thanks again, great swap gallery everyone!

Sorry the massage oil wasn't in a pretty bottle. I just happened to have that small plastic bottle around and it would survive the trip better than anything else I had on hand.

I thought it was great.  The cap was even light purple Smiley
