Apologies for a not very exciting post or piece, but I just wanted to share my happiness because I've had a chance to dig out my oil paints for the first time in several years! (Oh my gosh, how have I let it go this long?)

So I'm out of practice, and just though I'd enjoy playing with them again.  The weather has been a little bit grey today, and I limited myself to blue and a tiny bit of burnt umber (and white, of course).  The funniest part was I didn't even get to brushes. I just pushed it around with my palette knife and was satisfied for now.

Two things I've missed: the smell, and the ability to keep pushing it around the canvas.  Yay!

"House on the Sea" (sorry for the icky phone pic):

This is GREAT! I'm a big fan of palette knife oil paintings, and I love the fluidity of the sea contrasted with the scratches in the (rainy?) sky.

I see a rainy sky, with a few streams of sunlight peaking through.  There is something calm and peaceful about this picture that I really enjoy.
