I am trying to make a pattern using an existing pair of shorts I have. Drafting the front was no problem, but I can't lay the back of the shorts flat enough to trace them. The back wraps around the front a bit and I can't figure out how to accurately do the back. Any suggestions?

Somewhere on BurdaStyle is a tutorial for copying a garment using masking tape. You lay on layer after layer of tape on a diagonal and then once you've covered the whole piece you're copying, you trim the tape and transfer it to paper. From there, you can add seam allowances and whatnot.
