I made this for my friend Tara... The "base blanket" and the fish are both patterns found on Ravelry - but the layout is all from my noggin.

I LOVE this blanket pattern. It's not a free pattern so I don't want to go too much into detail. Although I think I can say that  I did change a few things. I used a worsted weight yarn instead of a DK weight and chained 175 stitches to get a bigger blanket. However, I didn't increase my hook size to keep my stitches tighter for sewing my fishes. I also crocheted into the back stitch only to get the line in each row.


The fish pattern was also from Ravelry. It was free. I used DMC embroidery floss folded in thirds and a size 1 hook. I like embroidery floss for these types of projects because it comes in seemingly unlimited colors.

This is absolutely adorable. I adore that border stitch, and I'm always super impressed when someone crochets with embroidery thread. I tried it once. ONCE.
