Writer78 and I recently did an unofficial mini swap of Medieval/Renaissance favors.  There were only two of us exchanging favors, so I thought it would be okay to post pics here instead of in the official swap pic area.  If this is wrong, moderators please feel free to move this post.

Here is the belt style favor I made.  The general design of the bird is from a medieval woodcut, and I used different blackstitch fill patterns for different parts of the bird.  The stuff bordering the aida cloth from the black fabric looks like fraying (sorry, bad pic), but it is really black and white crochet cotton twisted into a cord.http://www.craftster.org/pictures/data/500/28004Bird_Favor_smd.jpg

Writer78 did not take pics and asked me to post hers also.  She made two embroidered pin back style favors tailored to my huband's and my interests, thrown weapons and birds.  They were nicely packaged in a box decoupaged with images of costumed people and had medieval army men to protect them from postal disasters!http://www.craftster.org/pictures/data/500/28004First_Favor_Swap_2_sm.jpg

Saturn, you are cute as a button!!  I'm so excited that you liked the goodies and that they are a part of your costume - the "action shots" make everything look even better.

I'll be excited to receive your favor, and I'll let you know when I do!!

d, I'm 6'1"!!!   Grin  I figure it makes me look dramatic and royal.  (Except when I dress in my peasant garb, I suppose!)  Don't let it hold you back - there's nothing like ren faires!

I received Saturn's favors today!  Er um...well my husband did, and he told me about it over the phone.  They sound splendid, and I will post pics when he joins me in our new home state in a couple of weeks.

Saturn - I will get crackin' on your favor straight away.  I had been stalled and distracted by my move, but I will warp up on it soon.

Phew...glad it got to ya! I distrust snail mail, it can arrive in a week, or never...lol....Just kinda ran outta cash and it's all i could do.

writer78, keep me updated on yours, I sent them at the exact same time from the same mailbox last Friday night, so hopefully it should come soon. If not, I'll just make new ones and express it...I'd feel just plain horrible if you didnt get it after the wonderful things you sent me, and went through all the trouble to make it really special.

Saturn, please don't worry about it.  I"ll keep watching, and it will turn up eventually.  I love to make pouches and favors, so your stuff was on hand and ready to go when we agreed to swap; really no problem!!  I always need more people willing to accept my pouches, 'cause I love to make 'em!
