So....in June of last year, I bought myself a cute little scooter as an early birthday present.  I loved this thing, babied it, saved TONS of money on gas, etc.  Well, I was only able to enjoy it for 2 1/2 months, because someone decided that they REALLY wanted it, and stole it Sad  I had given up all hope on getting it back, and started saving up for a new one.  THEN, in February, I received a call from the police department, and they told me they arrested a guy riding it in a blizzard!!!  The officer told me that he wasn't even sure that I would want it, as it was pretty messed up.  That really didn't matter to me...I NEEDED my lil girl back!!!  He wasn't joking...the guy spray-painted it flat black, and it looked like he may have dumped it a couple times.  He also popped out the ignition, but a bicycle brake on it, and removed the mirrors.  The grips and seat were once white, but they ended up brown...stained and NASTY!!!!  It took me almost 2 months to get all the work done, but she is back and better than ever!!!  Now...on to the pics!!!

Here she is before...a cute little pink thang...

Here she is after I picked her up from motorcycle/car jail (impound lot)...doesn't she look SO SAD?!?!

The only way to really cure all that ailed her, I had to take her COMPLETELY apart

Yes...you DID read that right...I glittered my scooter.

And here she is now!!!!  It is really hard to get adequate glitter pics, but you kind of get the idea, right?!?!

Now, for the numbers...

Quote for body work: $600.00                          What I paid for paint supplies: $200.00
New ignition at dealer: $125.00                        What I paid to buy and install one myself: $60.00
New seat: $110.00                                         What it cost for me to make my own: $7.00

There were several other things I had to buy, like...a new cable lock, new helmet, new mirrors, new brake lever, and so on and so on.  BUT, it sure beat the cost of buying a brand new scooter!!!

Thanks for taking a look, and reading this excessively long post Grin

Lanikins great job- My son's scooter was stolen two months ago with two payments left- relied on it extensively as it was his only means of transportation- it was heart breaking to hear it was stolen- congratulations on getting yours back

You did such an awesome job AND saved a lot of money!
I am impressed.
And I am happy for you that you got your scooter back, even though it was in a horrible state.
(I love my own little scooter. I've got a bright red Sym Mio.)

Gorgeous restoration on your part!  I love the glitter!  Cheesy

So, is the guy who stole it going to have to pay anything back in reparations?  I mean he screwed it up quite a bit and you went without it for such a long time...  You put a lot of YOUR valuable time into making it look good again too.
I just hate it when people get away with stuff like that.

LOVE IT!!!! I have a scooter myself and would be completely furious if some [can't type what I want to call a scooter thief here] stole my ride. You did an awesome job on it!
