I was using a small piece of scrap yarn to mark where my rows began when crocheting in the round. The problem I was having was the yarn would sometimes get crocheted into my project. And if I used a matching yarn (because that was what was at hand)...you get the picture! And I really don't care for the stitch markers you can buy. I thought they were a little boring and I didn't want to spend what they were asking for small plastic circles. SO in comes Craftster, my new "obsession", and what do I see: you can make stitch markers...Wait a minute!!! WHAT??? Why didn't I think of that! So a bucket of beads, some 20 gauge wire, a box of paperclips and sore thumbs and this is what I have created...I'm so excited to crochet a hat now!

**Please feel free to move this post if it's in the wrong spot! I couldn't find an area for crafted crafting accessories. (That made sense in my head.)

It's not a mistake. It's...um...a design feature.

Excellent idea. I'm going to make myself one or two for my crochet. Like you, I have used bits of yarn but I often pull them out by accident as I work.

I used paper clips for the hooks but I think that safety pins would work well too. I may try making a set with safety pins for my daughter if she doesn't steal these!

I can do that... I think.

These are great!  Just a thought for you - I use lever-back earring hooks for my stitch markers.  They lock in place without having to worry about them wigging out.  Smiley  I love the rainbow-y-ness of these!

That is a great idea. I was going to use clasps but was banned from going to town that day and so just used what I had on hand. I want to make a set for my daughter because she crochets too and I'll look for those earring hooks.
