Some friends of mine are having their first baby far too soon. It's week 28 and they don't know how long they can wait. Anyway, they asked me to make some tiny clothes for the baby and I have NO idea of how big/small to make them.
I've made tons of baby clothes before, but never to a tiny baby. I've been searching the web for patterns for trousers but no luck.

Does anyone have any idea of  size and where to get a pattern?

Honestly, it all depends on the particular baby. And for the first little while, they don't really want the baby to have clothes on at all in the NICU. There are so many cords and things that need to be dealt with. My little guys mostly wore a diaper. I believe that somewhere there is a pattern for a NICU kimono that make work best at first.

When the little one is ready to come home, they will still be quite tiny, but again it depends on the baby. Mine was over 5 pounds, but he was a really big preemie to start with.
