I have to say, I LOVE the softness of this craft. My friend and I felt impulsive, and ran out to get some roving - we'd decided to give needle felting a go!

I broke all my needles on this one project - oh my!

Here's my needle felted dog whisky

And the inspiration himself:

If anyone has any advice at all on how to improve for next time - please share it with me Cheesy

I love the texture you got in the grass. This looks great! The only advice I have for you would be to make sure you only go straight back out of it the way you went into it, that's probably why you broke so many needles. No hooking!

Thank you everyone! I guess I just need to slow down and stab with more purpose and less "ROAR, STAB STAB STAB!!"

Do I need to work bigger to get detail in, or is it possible to get detail in a little picture? Do you break your roving up into smaller lengths?

yup, you can get awesome detail on small pieces. literally use like 15 individual  pieces of wool, and add on as you need.  Keep at it and experiment!
