My husband and I took his daughter to a local glassblowing studio for her birthday. She made a stemless wineglass with dark green and yellow. I made a starfish paperweight with apple green and turquoise.

Enjoy!

Superb. I'd love to try it, I hope it was lots of fun to do. If those are the results from a short course I will certainly have to look out for one

Those are beautiful!
Especially considering you were both doing this for the first time.

Just beautiful! Did you like it more than kiln work?

What a super birthday treat.  For first time results those pieces are amazing. I'm not surprised you have a new addiction.

I can't say I like it more than kiln work. It is just a new and different skill.

The glass studio we went to has a "date night" every other Friday where they guide you through making small projects. Without their guidance, there would not have been awesomeness! At the end of 2014, I'm planning on taking a course there to learn the basics which will allow me to rent studio time to make my own stuff. Interestingly, they use Spectrum 96, so if I want to make something in my kiln then turn that piece into a blown piece, I'll have to switch from Bullseye glass (COE 90) to Spectrum (COE 96).
