Busy crafting away, but I thought I'd pop in for a really quick Advanced Friday update on my owl!
I have finally decided what pattern I wanted for the weaving, and have so far done the entire 6 meters (!) for the hanging part of the sleeves. Takes forever to set up the warp and weave so long >.<

Weaving:

Challenge: Quidditch - Bumphing
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name: Empire Waisted Apron

Brief Description: Last weekend I spent a day canning with my friend Amber.  She had the most adorable vintage inspired apron, with cute little owls all over it.  I was seriously jealous.  Especially when I got tomato juice all over me later that day, and red wine jelly the next day!  Cheesy  So, I simply had to make myself one yesterday at work.  It is made from vintage fabric we received in a donation.  Deep teal, with tiny white and lime green flowers, and black branches. The black is bias tape, and it ties at the back of the neck and the waist.  I'm considering going back and attaching the neck straps to go down to the back of the skirt instead of tying, since I don't like things touching the back of the neck.  But for now, I'm going to try using it this way.

~*Advanced Studies Friday*~
I've made some more progress on my NEWT!  Monday afternoon I did a batch of 6 jars of wine jelly made from Norton grapes.  The wine is from my favorite local winery, Reid's Livery.

It's a beautiful dark garnet color.  Here are two thumnails that show off the color.

This afternoon I'll be doing a batch of Beer Mustard, and perhaps some Cranberry Syrup.  On Sunday I plan to do another canning day with my friend Amber.  We'll be doing Zucchini Pickles and Bruschetta In a Jar.

And now, I have a question for all of you!  Tuesday I started playing with making jar labels.  I liked playing with the different fonts, but now I can't choose between them.  Here are my 4 favorites.  Let me know which you like best!

This semester has just been slipping by! we're already in the last month!

I've been busy chipping away at my advanced studies project and trying to keep my most recent, and very unexpected houseguest entertained. (he's seriously infringing on my crafting time  Wink )

I did get a chance to whip up these cookies yesterday for The latest bean challenge.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Bertie botts bean- watermelon
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Neapolitan cookies
Project Page Link (if available): :http://cookiesandcups.com/neapolitan-cookie-sandwiches/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+cookiesandcups+%28cookies+and+cups%29
Brief Description: (how it fits the requirements, pattern/techniques/recipe used, any fun tips, etc.) These cookies called my name when I saw them! and since they have pink for the strawberry cookie and white for the frosting they kind of remind me of a watermelon, that is if you dipped a watermelon in chocolate Smiley I followed the recipe pretty closely, except I don't use strawberry or chocolate syrup, so I used 2 tbsp of powdered stawberry jello for the pink cookies and cocoa powder for the chocolate. I also followed my own recipe for swiss meringue buttercream  because I just can't bring myself to make basic buttercream anymore. Using powder Jello as a flavoring was a total experiment and it went REALLY well so now I've got a whole slew of other ideas involving using it as flavoring.

Project Picture:

And since it's advanced studies friday here is my progress!

Newt- I'm done with the cross stitching and I'm now working on all the back stitching

Owl-I've got all the little puffs for the blue quilt all sewn so now it's a matter of sewing them together. This is when I discovered turns out my sewing machine doesn't like sewing to puffy pillows together, so now I'm having to sew all the squares together by hand so it may be a little more slow going than I anticipate. ah well I've got until October.... hopefully

Now off to plan some quidditch products.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch Challenge: Keeper
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Smug Bullfinch
Brief Description: I was recently inspired to attempt some watercolour paintings.  Here's my first serious attempt - a smug and perhaps slightly snooty Bullfinch (Pyrrhula pyrrhula).  I think I'll tack him up on my wall somewhere and paint some friends to go with him!

Congrats to our Headmistress on having her Color Wheel Afghan show up in Craftster's Featured Projects!

squeeeeeeeee!  Thank you! Kiss  I was beyond excited to be a featured project!! Grin

To HPCers, First, Happy Advanced Studies Friday!  I am so close to finishing my OWL, and I'm already plotting my future NEWT & next OWL. Cool  Second, I don't think I've mentioned this, but my hubby has been on vacation this whole week, which I adore, but he sure does cut into my Craftster and crafty time!  (good thing I love him so)  We are about to have a movie date night. Grin  I wanted to make sure everyone knew I wasn't falling down on the job, and that I will be updating tomorrow.  (Tomorrow is the day I've designated as my Major Craftster Update Day!  You'll find me milling about on Craftster either in swaps, HPC, Nerd Games, or Crochet Boards.  I'll be happy to catch up on everything, especially my PMs.  If you've asked a question in the past few days and I haven't replied, I promise to get to it tomorrow....I've tried to stay on top of them, but I get some my a day that some slip me by.)  Okay, off to pop popcorn!  See y'all tomorrow! Grin
