I'm terribly sorry, but i appear to have been driven insane with jealousy.

Smiley  I'm jealous of myself, even!  I want to go back and be myself again that day and talk to him some more!  He's SUPER nice - takes time to connect with everyone.  AND I got so lucky, because during his onstage talk, he answered Qs we wrote on index cards while waiting for him (his flight was delayed by the crash in San Fransisco) and 2 of the dozen or so he picked (there were about 1500 of us there, and who knows how many cards!) were mine.  Shocked  (I felt a bit hoggy, but elated as well.  Oh, and another Q was one of my daughters'!)  If you ever get a chance to go to a signing, I say LEAP at it!  I totally made up for the time I met Douglas Adams (another signing) and was too overwhelmed to say anything other than "erm, uh, the next one's mine, too."  Embarrassed

OK, must yank myself back to the present now rather than dreaming of famous author encounters. ^_^

Quidditch!!!

Challenge: Quidditch penalty shot - Bumphing
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Playway Protector
Project Link:  It's based on this soap shard sack
Project Description: I borrow a lot of Playways from the Muggle library so that I can listen to good books while doing mind-numbingly boring housework (my house seems to have been built -- rather unfortunately -- in a magical dead zone.)  WAAAAYYYYY too many times, the Playaways will swing and bump something and turn off.  Now, normally, if I pause them -- even to change the battery -- they remember where I was and start from there again, but when they turn off by getting bumped, they lose my place entirely, and I waste a LOT of time trying to find my place again.  Hopefully this cushy little sleeve will prevent these terrible accidents from occurring.  Tongue
Project Pics:

I like this pattern.  I wanted something interesting, and also textured enough to provide cushioning.

Here you can see it in relation to the Muggle device:

After giving it some thought, I left the bottom open for easy access.  Sometimes I zone out and miss something, and sometimes I just want to hear something again.  Also, I need to pause from time to time for phone, kids, etc.,  so I wanted the buttons to be readily accessible.

Right... *rubs hands*... it's been a busy day Cheesy

Challenge - quidditch Seeker
House - ravenclaw
Project -
So... the golden rule: do unto others as you would hve them do unto you

What would I want to have done to me? I like being taken on adventures - in stories, or in the world.
So I should take someone on an adventure!

This hoop is for my friend's daughter Charlie, who is 6 or 7, and has taken to playing ''Portkeys'' (essentially pretending that whatever object is a portkey, and then playing out the adventure she has in whatever location it has taken her too). So, I thought I'd make her a handy dandy portkey to take her on adventures anytime she wants

Challenge: Quidditch Beater
House: GO EAGLES!
Project:
For the bookcrossing zone I'm going to set up at OHM (I leave on tuesday. I'm SO excited!!) It's in a wooden hoop Wink

Challenge: Quidditch keeper
House: Caw! Caw!
Project;
this one's for me

great idea. i'm a bit addicted to playaways myself. i've been listening to what my daughters are reading to keep up. at times they will listen to one, and follow along in the book. they are small and easy to loose though. and the cords get pulled out when i put it in my pocket. i've actually been sticking it in my bra but this is much more classy.

Challenge: Quidditch/Stooging
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Quickie Critters
Brief Description: I have a confession to make. I like Animal Crossing. There, I said it, I play Animal Crossing and I'm entirely too old to do so. Luckily, my kids like it too and today the little girls asked if I would make them teeny characters from the game. "Sure," I said. "No problem. Making toys is nearly my favourite thing to do."  The first DD came to me with a request for the goat and I whipped it out pretty quickly. Then DD #2 said she wanted the octopus. Of all the characters, she wants the octopus with all of its little legs and tiny eyes and itty bitty funky mouth..."Yeah, okay, can do." And it happened to be really simple after I figured out all the parts. They are about 3.5" tall and have posable arms and legs. Now, don't tell anyone my secret!

dude, I keep everything in my bra if I am running errands round town - phone, ipod (this is v. classy when I have to take it out to pause it anytime I need to talk to a person...)... train tickets, usually an emergency 10 in case I lose my wallet....
it's tres ladylike, I know cause i ran it past the beauxbatons girls when they were here and they totally approved.

Ha!!  I've done that, too!  But I still manage to have issues. Tongue  So far, after putting the sleeve on - NO ACCIDENTAL OFFS!!! Cheesy

Noodlebug, I love your hoops!  My fave is the purple one.  I <3 purple so much!

Pottermouth, Squeeeeeee!  Those are adorbs!  Even my husband was enchanted by the octopus. ^_^

Jennieingram - YUM!  How many things are you putting up altogether?

I've been a busy bee today.  I have another project to post and haven't even taken pics of my dishwasher tabs (or their container) yet, as they're still curing.

Challenge: Quidditch - Penalty Shot: Blatching: Flying with the intent to collide.  Craft something that collides or combines two crafting techniques.
House: Hufflepuff!!
Project Name: Sherlock's Plum Cuppa, Star Trek Style
Project Description: I made this bookmark for my Molly Merula, who has a serious Benediction. Cheesy  It collides knitting and embroidery, and as an added bonus collides Sherlock (plum) with Star Trek (Tea, Earl Grey) - both of which have Benedicty affiliations.

Project Pic:

It doesn't really say in the instructions, but I did a M1R for the every first m1 and a M1L for every second one.  Not sure if that would matter, but I really like how it turned out! Smiley

My NEWT Proposal outlined a minimum of 7-11 individual food preservation projects over 4 weeks, with more to happen if time, money, and talent permit.  So far I have completed 7 individual projects.  1 infused vinegar, 1 infused spirit, 2 types of pickles, and 3 types of salsa.  It looks like I'll have time to do extra projects that didn't make it onto my proposal.  The friend I worked with on Saturday has a garden currently overflowing with zucchini, so I think we're going to try zucchini pickles next week, and maybe some caramelized red onion jam together.  On my own this week I'm planning to do a batch of wine jelly, made from a local wine that I adore, and a batch of cranberry syrup, to help satisfy my never-ending love of cranberries in all things.  (You can take the girl out of New England, but you can't take the New England out of the girl!  Right Ant Bee?  Wink)

Ha! Don't I know it! You should have seen me the winter I spent in a tent in Arizona- the locals were all bundled up and there I was with a t-shirt and an ice cold coke-a-cola! (Except at night- not even acromantula venom and a web cocoon would keep you warm then! Ah, memories...)

*snaps to* Right then, where was I?
A yes, (Humperdink, Humperdink, Humperdink!)

Here's the S.P.E.W. rundown for the week of July 21-27 delivered by guest commentator, your favorite game keeper and mine.... Rubeus Hagrid!

"All Righ', everyone? Thanks fer lettin' me share the S.P.E.W. news o' the week.  I still think the house elves won't like it, but fer everyone else I think it's all right. Doin' 'em an unkindness, I told Hermione when she firs' got the idear. Great gal, our Hermione. Great gal."

"Anyways, it were a slow week this week fer charity work, what with portkey registration and what not.  The Sytherins gained 20 points with two projects from Lelyonna.  Her little dragon- (moan). Vastly misunderstood creatures, dragons. You know, I had a dragon once- em, I shouldn't a' told yer that. Anyway, Hufflepuff gained 10 points fer themselves with the posting from midkiffsjoy's donation fer Days fer Girls."

"I think an honorable mention should be called fer Naantje fer arranging a "Knit in." I fancy a bit of knittin' meself from time-to-time. Made my own bedspread there, and a sweater fer Aragog *sniff* but he never wore it much.  Making the 8 arm-holes was a bit of a challenge, if I do say so meself."

"Well, That's that.  The new totals are: Slytherin with 130; Gryffindor with 120; Hufflepuff at 50 and Ravenclaw at 20. Well done, you lot. Now I'll be off, gotta go into the forest for a bit of a chat with Grawpy. He's down from the mountains and we're thinking of getting him a lady-friend. or a pet.  I think he'd really love an erumpet or even a chimera of 'is very own."

"Oh dear, I shouldn't a' told yers that..."

Thank you, Hagrid, for that... illuminating report!

Well that's it for this week, next week's password will be Crumple Horned Snorkak.
Happy Crafting, Everyone!
