Inspired by the Altered Altoid Tins I found here on Craftster, before joining the fun, I created these altered tins from a stash that my husband and I have collected. We were going to originally use these for mini survival/fire starting kits but they are more fun to alter craftily. I now have friends and family saving their various sized tins for me and have quite a stash going. Even my girls and their friends have gotten into altering the tins for one another! I love that these have inspired children to be crafty & artistic.

For my Gram's 83rd Birthday in March. (I used some contact cement my husband had as glue but won't do that again. It was messy!)

For my Mom's Mother's Day card. This one I watercolored the pansies and beaded the dragonfly and butterfly.

Thank you for looking! Questions, comments and cc welcome!

Those are really nice!  I love the idea of giving a decorated tin instead of a card--I will have to try that!

These are lovely, and I agree, so much nicer than a card.

Thanks! I really enjoy giving handmade cards. I've been doing it since I was little. And the tins make such an unexpected surprise.

Thanks! I have had requests to show others how to make these but I'm not a great teacher. But that's okay! My kids have started to make these as well and have been stealing from stash of tins...But it's okay, I'm addicted to Altoids so there are always more tins coming in.
