I found these little papier mache female body forms at Michael's a few weeks ago and picked up three or four. I knew immediately I wanted to feature one in a shadow box. I tissued and glued papers over a wooden IKEA shadow box and covered the inside of the box with scrapbooking paper in browns.
Then I papered the form in blues and gave her a button heart accented with foil paper. I wanted to add something to represent flowing water, so I used the first ever singly ply homespun I created several years ago. It wouldn't quite stay up on her neck so I made some beaded pins to hold the strands back. I like how it made the yarn look like a cloak of water (at least to me).
Text inside reads "after working up a sweat" and "so beautifully decorated."
The pages on the outside were from a book on the history of household things like toilets, toasters, ink pens, etc. There's also some random ephemera.
I wanted it to capture the feeling of self-care and of a relaxing escape.
Hope you like!
