Even though I should shorten the sleeves since I'm married, I just LOVE the flowy look the longer sleeves have...so for my bigger wedding I think I'm going to keep with the longer sleeves =P I've got this georgeous red silk with gold embroidered bamboo stalks and cherry blossom branches thats going to be for my formal wedding kimono

watashi wa nihon daisuki! yukata to kimono totemo kawaii suteki desu ne! (pardon my misspellings, I'm still learning >.<)

I actually do, however, plan to make a formal kimono for my husband for the official ceremony when it happens =D (he wanted armor XD but I'm not quite that crafty loool!!) I still look at my yukata and cant believe I made it in 12 hours, I honestly dont remember half of it at this point ha ha!!! =^.^= I'm glad you like it alwaysinmyroom, I tried to keep everything as ....hmm...traditional(?) as possible (not sure thats the word I want to use xD but close enough) It's machine sewn instead of hand stitched but my hand stitching is terrible XD

ha ha I think you can do what you want...I don't follow the customs to the letter either! Wink  I adapt them for my lifestyle...I love the long sleeves and I make yukatas to wear as bathrobes/casual dressing during the hot summer months...uh, by machine...I am not sewing anything by hand if I can help it!

You did a great job...I know the sleeves and the band around the neck are troublesome...also, your mamasan did a fantastic job on the obi!!!

Do you have a picture of the fabric for your wedding kimono?  it sounds divine!

Unforuntately I dont have a photo of the fabric but I will certainly be getting one today! Our ceremony on the 22nd was such a rush we didnt get a chance to get our wedding bands (my mom was terrible upset over that), so my grandmother let us borrow her's and her husbands (which I'm returning to her today =D ), she's making my wedding kimono for me (since she may not be around to see the wedding...especially after all her recent surgeries) so I'll definitely snap a pic of it and post it here!

I plan on making a pair of okobo to go with my wedding kimono XD I cant wait to get the wood for that and get started! I'll definitely have to post up a tutorial for that once I figure out what I, myself, am doing with it haha!!

We used extra-heavy weight pellon interfacing in the Obi because the fabric was so flimsly it slid everywhere.... I think it did the trick =D though next time, I might use a regular heavy weight or a medium and coat both layers so it has enough stiff-ness but not so much its hard to manuever....

It took me a few minutes to figure out the neck band, but the sleeves defintely gave me trouble! Thankfully I figured it out without to much damage to the fabric, as I only bought 6yds of it and only had a few inches of scrap left after cutting out the pattern XD (I altered simplicity's pattern to make it more true to the way they are made, no crazy snaps or ties...though I should have lengthened it just a tad more, lesson learned for next time!)

Thanks ^.^

I'm really happy with how it turned out, been wearing it around the house all day =D
Though honestly, its rather strange being seriously married haha, been calling him my husband for 5 years now and now (legally anyway) he's my husband in the eyes of the government to haha XD The "husband" jokes are abound in my house the past few days, its hilarious!

Gorgeous fabric and execution. Especially for whipping it off in a single night.

Congrats! You guys look great and very happy!
