So, suddenly when I copy and paste it leaves a big "Read More: [insert giant link here]" bs message afterwards? Why is that? I mean, just copying and pasting from my personal messages into the body of a thread it does that, like 90% of the time! WHY? Since I can't just drag and drop from one tab in my browser tot he next anymore thanks to the improvements in the photo service, Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V have become even more important to me and now that's even starting to piss me off. Why does it do that? I mean, I get that when you copy and paste something from C-ster into another site you guys still want it to link back here, but it's really annoying when just copying and pasting within the site itself.

The system doesn't know where you are going to paste the copied content.  It adds the link when you copy, not when you paste.  It will do it when you copy from personal messages, the blog, the forums, etc.  It's a feature we added in February.

It is nice to know that if you copy and paste from your personal inbox the link goes to an 'oops you don't have permission to see this page!" page.  I've left the "read More" message while linking here on C-ster, because it kinda of gives more traffic to the post your are linking from.  Sort of handy dandy, I think.  You can post a project or question in a craft along, and then others will maybe see something they wouldn't have otherwise.  Of course not when copying from my own personal inbox, but for everything else it's great.

Great point!  Thanks for posting that.
