I inherited my parents cuckoo clock purchased in Switzerland in 1956.  I grew up with that clock chiming the time for years...I think it finally quit working in 1975.  My dad was going to have it repaired but never got around to it...when he died, Mom asked if anyone wanted it, so I took it.  I have been lugging it around for about 18 years.

Bottom line:  it is beyond affordable repair...I was going to send it to my dear friend alteredmommy but the cost to ship to Canada was ridiculous. So sorry, hun, I am renigging! Cheesy

I took the deer head and other parts off the clock and decided to make a faux taxidermy deer head...but, since I wanted to do a project about my current favorite TV show, Game of Thrones, I added the appropriate stuff:
a crown and the motto of House Baratheon: Ours is the Fury.

BEFORE:
This was the top of the cuckoo clock....don't worry, the other parts will be used for future projects... Cheesy

AFTER:
Looks huge, but I wanted to see if I could get the words in...

From the side....

It is actually much smaller....

I debated putting the crown around the neck of the deer versus around the head, and decided I liked the head better since my crown is small...I might change my mind later, but for now, here is my project!

Oh--details: one wooden base, paint, deer head (revarnished and repaired with polyclay), glitter trim crown Cheesy

I love it! The gold on the antlers looks great.

That was a humongous cuckoo clock you had!

I like how you removed the purple hues from the carved head. It looks great that way.

I have never watched the TV show, so I can't comment on that.

Thanks all!

The clock body was about the size of a piece of paper 8x11 or so...the deer head was at the top...along the sides there was a carved dead bunny and a carved dead partridge...I will be using them for something else as well...there were three very heavy metal pinecones that worked the clock mechanism...no idea what to do with those!

I am inspired by alteredmommy to do something like she did with the clock body (sorry AM that I never sent this to you... ha ha ha)...

How often do you just happen to have a miniature deer head to craft for your favorite TV show! Cheesy I guess when you've been storing it for 18 years.  Excellent!

ha ha I know, right?  yeah--this is why I save EVERYTHING! Grin

But, you could do the same thing with a plastic toy deer...I just used what I had!

Next project will be House Stark... Cheesy

Nice repurpose.  It looks like it was meant to be just what it is now.  Save the rest of the parts.  You never know what else it can be.

Faux taxidermy is all the rage now! I really like your take on it. I think the crown on the head was a good choice... that's where crowns belong Smiley.

I'm glad that the clock is staying in the family and living on in a new way!
