So in September this year a friend of mine is doing a sponsered walk up to Machu Pichu to support CLIC Sargent and I thought it would be nice to make her something to take with her. When her list of things to take came out one of the things listed was a warm knitted hat - perfect !

So I found this Chullo pattern and re-charted the whole thing to include her initials, her company Logo (it is a company sponsered trip) and a nickname from her work. I used the suggested yarn of Spindrift from Jamiesons's of Shetland as I thought it would be nice to make it from a proper scottish wool, hence 'Scotland to Peru'  Grin

Here is the whole thing

And here's a close-up on the details:

I also decided to line it as the yarn, whilst ok to work with, might be a little rough on the face and ears. So I up-cycled a nearly new fleece dressing gown to make a soft lining. The red bias binding was on the dressing gown already so when I cut the pieces for the ear flaps I unpicked some from the sleeves and handsewed it on the hat. I'm really proud of how it has all turned out  Cheesy

Here's a shot of me wearing it to show it off as best as I could manage:

And (finally) here's a pic of her wearing it just after she unwrapped it:

Wow!  That is brilliant!  What great colour work!

You even have the company logo down perfectly!  Maybe you could suggest a sideline in woolly hats as part of the uniform  Cheesy

I've always admired people who could do complicated knitting, but this takes the cake for me.  This is fantastic work, and I'm sure will be very appreciated by your friend.
