I found this old table for $10 at an antiquey-kind of store. I saw potential in it. I didn't quite know what I wanted to do with it until it dawned on me that it was the same shape as a honeycomb, and so it became the Apis Mellifera table (Latin for honeybee).

ETA: Since the question has been asked, I guess I should mention that it was all hand painted (including the art). From start (sanding) to finish (varnish) the whole table took around 10-12 hours Smiley

I hope you like it!

Oh my goodness Foxy, I'm so completely in love with this table!  I just freaked out when I saw it, and demanded my husband come to look at it.  Then I demanded he let me have something similar in our next house!  (Our current house is so tiny, we can't have a side table or coffee table of any sort in the living room.)  I'm just stunned. What a sweet, fun, and beautiful upcycle!

And now I have to remember to dig out my supplies to make the Hive-Star Bee quilt I was planning last year.... hmm....

A perfect one of a kind piece to remind us of the great cooperation and industry of the bee. I love it.
