I made some pants for my daughter and my niece. They are both a difficult fit due to having very large thighs. So, I made two styles of pants that worked better for their thigh issues.

I made these tiered pants. They ended up super cute. (The top is Mayfly's Smocket. http://www.themayfly.com/weblog/2007/02/happy_smocket.html)

And then I also made some of these super easy wide leg ruffle pants. (The hedgehog ones are about a size 7 and the pink/cupcake ones are about an 18 month size.)

They are very cute...nice that you can fit the kids based on their own individual and unique bodies...that is why a lot of us sew to this day...we are not massed produced humans! Cheesy

Yes! It is so hard to fit a kid who is otherwise slender but has muscular thighs these days, particularly girls. Skinny jeans.  Roll Eyes

Omg exactly!!! Most noone in my town sews but a tiny handful of us (by handful I mean maybe 5-10 of us out of the several thousand here), and people make comments alllll the time about my daughters outfits... it always goes the same "Ohh omg how cute!! Where'd you get her adorable little outfit"  "Oh...you made it? How sweet, your really talented" *person walks away making "she must be to poor to afford new clothes" comments to whoever they were with*

Its rather insulting people (atleast in my area) think because you sew your own or your kids clothes that your poor (ok yeah I'm considered poor by the poverty guidelines, but hell I'm not THAT poor!...)

It's totally uplifting to see theres more people out there who think its better to make clothes that FIT rather than the mass produced stuff they stock on the shelves!
