I finished this last week and thought I'd share since I haven't posted anything on here in ages. I haven't got the pattern envelope to this pattern so I'm not sure when it's from and what company but it looks like a mailorder pattern and I assume it's a late 1940s design looking at it.
Anyways I made it from a black and white floral print cotton and added red buttons for a little splash of colour.

More details and pictures on my blog

I hope you likey!
Thank you.

I like your dress very much, unique neckline/collar. I also love how you mixed it with red and green. Your necklace and bracelet are very pretty btw.

I love how it looks vintage without being too much! Sometimes vintage-y dresses just seem over the top.. but you nailed it with the red buttons and paired with the cardi Smiley

I love sewing from vintage patterns as I usually dress retro in some way or other. I agree, it can easily look costume-y when overdone. I think a shirt dress is always a classic style and so easy to wear and dress up with a few accessories. Add a big bow or hair roll (or both?) and you got a vintage, retro vibe going on.
Thank you for your kind words. It makes my day.  Grin

I like dressing vintage-inspired I would say. To me, dressing full on vintage would feel costume-y and simply wouldn't be practical Tongue But I like the vintage style, it feel so much more classy than .. everything else! Smiley

Beautiful job!  It is so nice to see a modern spin on a vintage yet classic style...your details with your hair and jewelry really make for a fun look!

Did you have any trouble with the sizing?  I know my mom has a bunch of patterns from the 1940's that are way off from modern sizing...
