I've been making these crocheted flying discs or soft frisbees for a year now and can't keep them to myself. I either sell them or give them away about as fast as I can crochet them. Lately they have been coming out a bit fruity. Orange slices, watermelon, lime slices, oh my.

Play indoors or now that it is Spring, take them everywhere in your pocket and you can have a pick up game of frisbee anywhere! Kids and Small dogs love them because they don't hurt when you miss! Have Fun!

They are so vibrant and cute!

May I ask what yarn you used to make them?

I use plain old cheap acrylic yarn and use a singe crochet with doubled yarn. H hook. Makes a very dense and tight crochet. It is amazing how well they fly.

Wow!  It doesn't look like acrylic yarn!  What a good stash buster project!

Your stitches are very precise.

What a lovely idea! These would also make great coasters (especially since one tends to drink a lot of fruit juice in summer to cool down)

So much fun, I am amazed that they fly too.  I agree with Isay, they would make great coasters or even place mats for summer.

Thank you everyone. Yes, they are great stash busters, the first 20 or so were made from all the acrylic yarn that had been given to me over the years!

I think I got the idea for the watermelon from seeing a coaster pattern. I modified the idea to the frisbees. The orange slice took some figuring out and if I every figure out how to write the pattern I will post it, but don't hold your breath....I probably will not get to it in the near future. Too much crocheting to do.

Yay! Hopefully you will be able to post a pattern soon! My favorite is the watermelon, but that might just be because its my favorite fruit. Smiley

Well the watermelon is the easiest because it is just 9-10 rounds of pink (if you use two different shades of pink (double yarn) it looks cool), 2 (for 9 rds pink) or 1 (with 10 rds pink) rounds of white, one round of light green and two rounds of dark green, then two rounds of decreases with dark green. I finished with stitching the black seeds as a final touch.

Basic instructions look here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=412132.0#axzz2T6W5ssq5

For coasters, just do about 4 or 5 pink, one white, one light green and one dark green rounds. Stitch the seeds and finish with a tall glass of iced tea.

The orange slice......someday!

Just wanted to show you the ones I made from your instructions. Not as pretty as yours but they fly beautifully and we've been having a lot of fun with them.  They are fun to make too and an excellent way to use up scraps.
