So I'm new to sewing. I did a little as a kid in school (the mandatory gym sack) but next to nothing since then. I got a sewing machine for my birthday a few years ago (sew a blanket for my rat at the time), and suddenly had an urge to play with it a couple of weeks ago. After looking at several tutorials online, these are the first two items I made, both took about an evening. This is my very first attempt on sewing clothes.

Gather skirt with elastic waist.

The second was a dirndl skirt where I put in my first zipper.

Both are very cute skirts. My favorite is the second though. Love the stripes.

(I changed your links to pictures for you).

Both skirts are very nice, but the second one is more stylish! You did a great job!

Thanks for changing the links. The fabric is from Ikea.

It is funny, I just noticed that. And thanks.

It didn't come out perfect, but I'm not scared to try something new, I think that helps. And thanks!

I think you did a great job.  Personally I have never had much luck doing zippers the few times I have tried, so kudos to you.
