I carved leaf shapes from a slab of clay & pressed the edges together to create a wall pocket to hold flowers, vines, etc..  I stuffed wadded newspaper between the leaves to keep it's shape while drying.

Good job, Jenxx!  Do you have a slab roller?  If so, I'm jealous!

No need for jealousy because I don't have a slab roller---or anything else.  I simply go to class in town every week.  Two fantastic ladies (1 a retired art teacher) give lessons.  I considered going to the community college but it would be farther away & cost more.  Also, I don't want to get involved in all of the details.  I leave them to the firing part.  I just go, they hand me a lump or slab of clay & offer whatever assistance I need while I do my thing. I couldn't ask for better.

I've worked with a variety of materials over the years but am finding clay to be the most creative ever.  Love it.

How nice you have lovely local teachers.  Are you learning to throw, too?

There's a wheel available & I've thrown one tiny pot so far.  (It's posted here somewhere)  I've just been more interested in hand modeling.  Perhaps I'll get around to the wheel some day.
