The recent Mug Rug swap has been amazing and I wanted to post the rugs I made for the swap. It was fun planning and designing these small  quilts. So much more doable than a queen size bed rug!

The bug rug was inspired by a piece of jewelry seen on Pinterest and I tried to match the jewel tones and overall tone. I cannot find the pin anymore...foolishly did not pin it, but here is my interpretation. the flower and bug body is appliqued to the backing, the wings are separate quilted pieces and the eyes are buttons.

Vintage apron inspired rug using a vintage linen napkin and fabric from my stash that is becoming vintage due to it's age. I actually made a mini apron, then stitched it to a backing. I like the 3D effect of the two sided apron strings.

I see more Mug Rugs in my future!

I think both are wonderful, but I'm in love with the bug rug!
