In the recent Mug Rug Swap, I was partnered with amnesia.  I was kind of at a loss as to what to make as I was not familiar with some of the themes she gave in her questionnaire Sad.

Here is the the mug rug I made for her Cheesy:

Inspiration comes from the oddest places--this was my inspiration:  a kokeshi doll that I got when I was in Japan a few years ago.

See the little ribbon across?  I decided the shape was odd when I first made it so I added another piece.  The ribbon covers the seam.  I love the shape and hope to make more!

Close up of the face--embroidered and appliqued on:

The binding was from stash (the package said 1965!!!)...it was a bit thin so I had to sew it on by hand...and the back:

I had a blast making it once I got going.  I think it would be a nice place to set a cup of green tea and some red bean cakes! Yummy!

I keep inheriting stashes so I might have a few more projects like this involving binding... Cheesy

Looking for a vintage magazine (1974 - 1978) that has a fabric nativity set w/ people and animals. An example: http://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=440861&ppuser=143144.

aww--thanks!

It is hard to tell in the picture, but I actually scrappy pieced some of the sections since I was using up scraps from various projects...they went together so well that it is even hard for me to tell!

All the trim/ribbon came from Craftsters whom I have swapped with...from wrapping the packages!!! Who does that? Cheesy...apparently, if someone sends me ribbon, I keep it...so thanks... Cheesy

This is so adorable, and the expression on her little face is cute. Smiley
