I know every generation of highschoolers has their name for the "punk" group of kids, at my high school circa late 90's we called them "skaters" and I'm not quite sure why but this quilt reminds me of JNCO's and Van's sneakers, and skateboard stickers.

In actuality it was inspired by a floral print from Denyse Schmidt's new fabric line. I just used all of the colors in the floral print (on the back of the quilt) to pull solids for the squares! I really love the way it turned out.

on the quilting machine, I took a long arm class at QuiltCon in February with Angela Walters and was excited to try out this fun petal pattern! It was freehanded and continuous line, no starting or stopping.

Fresh off the quilting machine!

my little tag, I had the image printed all over a fat quarter from Spoonflower and just cut one off to attach to my quilts, love it!

The floral print that inspired the quilt! The white strip with the solids is supposed to mimic the dots of color on the fabric's selvedge.

Here's the whole finished quilt, I had no helper readily available to hold it up for me so I just threw it on the bed. Oh and you can tell in this pic that its not very big, about 54 inches by 63 inches, a good couch size!

I love it! We got Angela Walters to speak to our guild last year, I'm so jealous that you got to take a class with her! Elizabeth Hartman has a kind of similar quilting pattern that I want to try on my home machine, I don't think it will turn out nearly as well as yours though!

I cant imagine doing it on my home machine, i actually cant imagine trying to quilt a full size quilt on my home machine at all in any pattern. But I loved doing this pattern on the quilting machine, it only took me one hour to do the whole quilt! Usually a quilt this size takes me 2-3 depending on how much detail i'm doing.

I love the colors you used and how the quilting pattern stands out from it. It's a great quilt.

I'm thinking for a baby quilt! I don't make anything bigger than a lap quilt because of size limits.

Also, one hour is crazy! Actually 2-3 sounds crazy fast too! Dang!

Turned out beautiful and the colors are very retro. Like all the little touches you did, and that you explained the thought behind them. Smiley
