A NEW day, a NEW doll... another poppet!

I was on Craftster for a couple of years before discovering my love of making dolls. I usually do Poppets, but have been trying to expand in the past year into other kinds. Originally I wanted to post a Poppet for this challenge but I they all have their own posts. I don't know how I missed posting this little gal but she definitely deserves a post of her own. She was a huge challenge for me, with no pattern and in a style so different from my usual stuff.

I joined the Junker Jane Style Doll Swap this past December. Our awesome organizers LeslieHappyHeart and Susanab picked Junker Jane as our theme. My inspirational partner was Noodle-bug. From her questionnaire my doll was influenced by: "I love how junker jane's dolls have really thoughtful and interesting expressions," a love of books, book characters, of vintagey and washed out colors, and elephants (among other things).

Noodle-bug has named the little Writer Doll Likhanā, which is the Hindi word for write. You can read more about her here, where Noodle-bug has done an excellent job photographing and explaining my swap package. I think her pics came out way better.

I've never entered a challenge before, so thanks for stopping to look! Aloha, ~Su

Here she is with her pet elephant and writer's satchel:

I made her a little pleather-bound book and an envelope full of quills to keep in her satchel. There's also a bottle for ink in there somewhere and a jar of whimsies for inspiration:

Here is her "announcement card":
