Challenge/Battle/Alert: July Multimedia - Companionship
Team/Ninja: Team Fantasy
Project Geekdom (if any):/
Bonus Points: Discovery
Project Name: Crochet coat hanger and knitted soap sachet
Project Page Link: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=425619
Brief Description:
Still on a grandma inspired crafting kick, I am continuing my vintage style crafts. This time, I made a crochet cover for a wooden hanger from my gran's closet. I prefer these hangers over the more modern ones, because dresses are less likely to slip from their moderate bend. I want to avoid splinters though, so I did what my grandma did decades before me. I had to invent the pattern on my own though, this is the third technique I tried before I was happy with the result.

As a companion for the hanger, I made another soap sachet. This time, I knitted the little bag. These sachets really lend themselves to try out new stiches. I had mastered the rib stitch in a previous project, but this is my first go at stockinette, seed and basketweave stitch. It really is a sampler bag Smiley

Project Name: Rabbit security blanket
Project Page Link: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=425620
Brief Description:
I'm going to be a godmother! My brother's third baby is due on Harry Potter's birthday, and I get to spoil the little one with handmade goods. I've already hooked up a baby blanket and matching hat and since I still have plenty of leftover yarn, I crocheted a security blanket from the same red boucl linen. Keeping with tradition, I made it to be a rabbit, as I gave my nephew and nieces rabbit security blankets too (store bought at the time). It's ears are a bit wonky, but I don't mind. I stuffed the head with a plastic bag so it would make crinkly noises when gripped.

Little baby dear
Always will my love be near
Rabbit hugs come here!

Once again, I am amazed and inspired by the fabulous projects here! As much as I'd love to comment on each and every one, my wrist is now in a cast (2 weeks after I broke it, a second set of X-rays revealed that it was, in fact, broken) and long bouts of typing are not comfortable. So, I'll just say I'm impressed (and Ludi, you are my new Craftster crush... is there anything you can't do?)!

Mine too! I'm so tempted to ask Ludi to an IYP, but I don't think I could handle the stress of trying to come up with something nice enough for her that she couldn't do better herself.

Sorry about your wrist craftADDchick, I hope it heals soon

Okay... here is my new Research Project Proposal

Project Name: Hexagons of Happiness
Team/Ninja: Team S & M
Brief Description: I am signed up for the Wild Olive Summer Stitching Club, and I was all set to start once school ended- fabric purchased, patterns arriving weekly in my e-mail inbox, but then I found out my wrist was broken. So, as part of my research project, I will be devising a way to hand-sew 1-2" hexagons which means I will need to invent a contraption that can function to grip them while I'm sewing them. Then, I'll need to investigate the use of an embroidery hoop holder/frame thingy so I can embroider the weekly images. This will also be my re-introduction to embroidery, which I haven't done in over 30 years (besides cross-stitch). The Club runs through the end of August, and the I'll need to sew my hexagons together and create a final piece (probably a totebag... or a pillow!) from them. It'll be close, but I should be done right at the end of the Games!

Well, you sure CAN embroider for one! My mouth still hangs open whenever I think about your "beginner" work! (haven't caught any flies yet, though.  Wink )

Thank you!  I think it's mainly stubbornness and too much free time.   Cheesy  Oh and nerdy enthusiasm, of course!   Smiley

I've been a big troll lately! All of the projects are so awesome. My daughters love to stand behind me and see what everyone is posting. We are really enjoying ourselves being trolls! Here is what I've been up to. Sorry about the pic quality. I need to use tripod and some light would be nice.

Challenge/Battle/Alert: June Multimedia--DISCO
Team/Ninja: Team Music
Project Geekdom (if any): Only if you count that birds sing!
Bonus Points: None, this time!
Project Name: Embroidered applique needle book
Project Page Link (if available):http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=425645.msg5065824#msg5065824
Brief Description: Inspired by a card that read: If we were birds, we'd be the brightest, chattiest birds. We would not, however, be early birds. The card was covered in glittery bright birds! I used iridescent thread on the bird and feather and for french knots on the front. (They are not my best french knots. I had issues with the thread snagging.) I lined the book with gold splatter fabric and two pages for needles.

Brief Description: I made a set of 4 blank (on the inside) cards for a friend. Each card has multiple embellishments. Better pics on the project post.
