Glad you ladies like my bracelet Cheesy

I liked Merle throughout because even though he was a jerk, he was a jerk through and through. I hate when people are supposed to be complete arses then they're suddenly sweet just like that **snaps fingers** He finally became a nice guy, but it took a long time which made it believable.

Challenge: May Randomiser; scrap heap
Team S&M
Nerdom: languages
bonus points: geeky & engineering
Project:
This is the birthday card I made for my colleague; she only let slip a day before her birthday that it was approaching, so I didn't have time to shop for supplies, I had to use the supplies I had to hand.
She is of turkish heritage, and recently began learning the language, so I thought it would be nice to put happy Birthday on in turkish... which of course I don't speak. I'm a bit of a languages geek though so I had fun with dictionaries getting the words and tenses. I did check with the guy who runs my corner shop (he's turkish) that i had it right, and he told me that it would be more usual to specify that it's for the person - apparently, to just write 'happy birthday' would be like ''oh look, a happy birthday floating in the air'' a bit random and just sort of a statement. Where as what he said was to write 'happy birthday to you', since that sort of grounds it (I can't really explain... sorry!) .
Anyway, here's the card...

and here's the new stitch I used - I seen it a while ago and wanted to try it - it's not really like embroidery, it's more like inserting a strand of weaving; you follow along a weft strand of the existing fabric, using a needle to follow in and out of the warp threads. It sits much flatter to the fabric than embroidery

Very cool birthday card. I have a strange love for huck embroidery like you did at the bottom - especially when both sides of your fabric end up looking beautifully patterned.

Hi again,
You can get lost in this thread- the inspiration! The fun! Oh, Pinkleo you did it again!

Here's something from me (finally):
Challenge/Battle/Alert: June Randomizer: zombie's ate my brain
Team: Who must not be named
Project Geekdom (if any): none (Although is does have images of the elusive Rubber Duck)
Bonus Points: Discovery (never made one of these before.)
Project Name: Rubber duckie fleecie
Brief Description: Here's a simple project- even for me who collects fabric and then remembers she doesn't know how to sew!  It's a no-sew fleece baby blanket. Cut, tie, done. No brainer!
Project Picture

Challenge/Battle/Alert: June Fandom
Team: Who must not be named
Project Geekdom (if any): Harry Potter
Bonus Points: nerdy/super nerdy
Project Name: Sorting Hat Square
Brief Description: ]"... or has hidden aspects that you must take a closer look at to see."[/i] I think this will qualify because when you look at it straight on it's simply a solid blanket block, but when you angle it just right it clearly has The Sorting Hat on it.

Happy Crafting, everyone!

Harry witnessed Professor McGonagall walking right past Peeves who was determinedly loosening a crystal chandelier and could have sworn he heard her tell the poltergeist out of the corner of her mouth 'It unscrews the other way.
