Challenge/Battle/Alert: June Multimedia - Disco
Team/Ninja: Team Monster
Project Geekdom (if any): Monster - kraken
Bonus Points: Discovery, nerdy, super nerdy
Project Name: The mermaid and the Kraken
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description:
I have been wanting to attempt a shadow box for a long time, since Kwality570 sent me an amazing one!  Wink I used a paper machete box I got from Michael's and cut out the top of the lid. I took these pictures before I put in the clear plastic piece to cover the front so I wouldn't get a glare. The background is glitter to represent the water. I also used shimmering water color on the mermaids tail for added, well shimmer. The Krakens tentacles have seed bead suction cups.
I was especially proud that I remembered to cover to mermaids boobies. I always show them but remembered it has to be PG13 for the games. Ha!

gozer - that mermaid is beautiful!  I know she's swimming away from the octopus but is she supposed to make me think of John Travolta from Saturday Night Fever with the classic disco pose?  Either way...  I love her!  gorgeous!

love the mermaid shadowbox!  Smart idea on the suction cups, and good job on the boobie covering!  That made me laugh out loud!  Beautiful work as always, gozer!

The patriotic bracelet is pretty.  Patty_o is a whiz with polyclay!

The scarf is gorgeous, love those colors.  I would so totally wear that!

And I love Artemis Fowl!  I was really pleased to see a cute homage to Holly!  Wink

Stefaniegk here is the tutorial that I found on line to make my fez.  It also has some other things in the article for throwing a Doctor Who party (cocktails, decorations and whatnot).  As far as the yarn goes I'm not sure what kind it was.  I used the whole skien for the scarf and then tossed the wrapper.  The next time I go to Joann's I'll see if they still have some so I can let you know.  The yarn is Bernat Mosaic in the colorway Optimistic.
