Challenge: June Textbook - Waves

Team:  The Team that goes Bump in the Night

Project Geekdom: Lovecraft!

Bonus Points: Nerdy, Super Nerdy, Discovery

Project Name: Deep One in the Waves

Brief Description:  Stylized embroidery depiction of Lovecrafts fish-frog Deep One done with stumpwork.  I learned a lot with this one, trying to learn stumpwork.  Learned to be more careful about keeping the back of the work neat (this one is a mess).  Still having trouble with thread tension in spite of using a hoop this time, but getting better.

Oh, I love Lando!  That is very funny, and I feel inspired to perhaps start my own art journal.

The reclaimed cards are great.  I love vintage art, and I actually still write physical letters so stationary is awesome!

Oh my, oh my! That stumpwork frog-fish is giving me serious pangs of jealousy!  You know when you see something and you just have that overwhelming feeling that you want to own it?  Love it!

Ludi--I have to show my hubby!  He is a huge Lovecraft fan...I caught him reading in bed this morning...yep, he re-reads Lovecraft and Stephen King over and over...

You did a wonderful job...I really love the motion you got in your waves...my kind of stitching...a bit wonky and uneven! Grin

Ludi, your ability to blend the floss colors so well makes all your pieces true works of art.  Awesome!

Challenge/Battle/Alert: June Multimedia
Team/Ninja:  Commercial Free All-Stars
Project Geekdom:  N/A
Bonus Points:  Discovery, Engineering
Project Name:  Hair bows
Project Link:  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=424605.0#axzz2WEF6UL3k
Brief Description:  I made a bunch of hair bow barrettes, and several with disco bling.  This was my first time making bows and my first time using these techniques.  I have instructions in the link above.  I laughed a little while making them because I was using hot glue for certain parts and then I thought of the Penny Blossom episode of The Big Bang Theory when Howard says to Penny and Sheldon that, Any of the cyanoacrylates would work better to keep her flower hair barrettes together.  I agreed and moved on to super glue.  Grin  I doubt thats enough to qualify these as super nerdy, though...well, it's certainly super nerdy, just not bonus point worthy!  Cheesy
