Challenge/Battle/Alert: June Randomizer
Team/Ninja:  Commercial Free All-Stars
Project Geekdom:  N/A
Bonus Points: Discovery
Project Name:  Knitted baby blanket
Brief Description:  Purling/knitting is my no brainer stitch and one of my go to projects.  This was the first time I have ever used two different needle sizes in the same item, and actually my first knitted blanket, too.  It wasnt as hard as I expected!  I wish I would have used slightly smaller needles or doubled up on yarn because it stretches a little bit more than I planned and might be too holey for the baby, but its still cute.  Its roughly 30 x 40 and is made with Bernat Pipsqueak yarn in Candy Girl.

Doctor Who
I not only enjoy making buttons, but In my day job I also teach how to make them(and have let them use our machine). So I put together a tutorial. Now you can make your own buttons too. Sample Button is River Song, The Doctor's Wife from the show Doctor Who.

Romance
Of Ships and Men

Doctor Who
For a long time I've wanted to make marble magnets. For this project I decided I'd finally learn how, and create a Doctor Who Magnet. Doctor Who is a show where Intellect and Romance win over Brute Force and Cynicism. The main character is The Doctor, and even though he's played by different actors, 11 is the doctor who has had the most romance. He's kissed almost all of his companions, and he is the doctor who has a wife, and we got to meet his ship (who he calls Sexy when they are alone). Tutorial

Here is a picture of both my projects. The Doctor and his Wife

Challenge: Research Project

Team:  The Team that goes Bump in the Night

Project Geekdom: Gormenghast!

Bonus Points: Nerdy, Super Nerdy, Discovery

Project Name: The Room of Roots

Project Page Link: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=424456.0#axzz2VkzVQmrP

Brief Description:  1:48 scale model of The Room of Roots from the novel Titus Groan. The Room was once filled with soil and a tree grew from the window hundreds of years ago.  Now the soil is gone and the roots only inhabit the room, with the dead Tree protruding from the face of the Castle wall.  The Ladies Cora and Clarice, idiot twin sisters of the Earl of Gormenghast, spent three years painting the roots in the hope of luring birds to roost and nest in them, a project which ended in utter failure.    But the sisters can still enjoy sitting out on the Tree, hundreds of feet in the air.  Steerpike, who has ambitious plans of moving up in the Castle hierarchy, is lurking in the doorway.

Lots of new techniques for me in this, including the stone texture made of egg cartons, and carving existing miniature plastic figures to represent the characters. More pics at project page.

Gormenghast, settings and characters invented by Mervyn Peake.  His website: http://www.mervynpeake.org/
