I finally got around to making something!

Challenge/Battle/Alert: May Battle Royal
Team/Ninja: Team Monster
Project Geekdom (if any): Monsters!
Bonus Points: Super Nerdy Bonus
Project Name: Pirate Cthulhu charm
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: (how it fits the requirements, pattern/techniques/recipe used, any fun tips, etc.)
I've recently fallen in love with polymer clay as a crafting medium, so I thought it would be fun to make myself a charm.  I love The Call of Cthulhu, and I thought Cthulhu would make a great pirate for this challenge since he is after all a sea monster, or rather a monster buried at sea?  Anyway, let's just say that he's closely associated with the sea.  I want to hang it on a chain attached to each of the eye pins, but since the charm is really the crafty part, I figured it was okay to post as is.

Challenge/Battle/Alert: May Battle Royale
Team/Ninja: Commercial Free All-Stars
Project Geekdom (if any): Ninjas!
Bonus Points: Discovery, Nerdy
Project Name:  Kumihimo Braid
Brief Description: Kumihimo is an ancient Japanese braiding technique that was used to make belts and ties for clothing worn by samurai and ninjas.  My mom and her friend tried it out last year and I thought it looked interesting, so I bought a loom a few months ago.  I decided to finally try it because I was thinking of using it as an aspect on another project, and I thought it could be a fun take on the ninja battle.  This is a basic round braid, or yatsu gumi, using eight strands of 1/8 ribbon.  It's around 18" and took about three hours.  I dont have the flexible bobbins normally used, so I just cut up an old paper towel roll and wrapped my ribbon around the sections as a temporary solution.  Not cute, but it worked!  Cheesy

Wow, I missed a lot of projects! Shocked

Ezri_B, those pinwheel hairpins are brilliant! Such a good thing to do, too.
Abbeeroad, what a clever idea!
Smileyyogini, That little applique turned out great! And your Kaylee doll is absolute perfection!
Silentblaid, your little c'ptain jack is amazing!
Bobbysgirl, Spiffy blood drip bracelets!
Lurv2knit, those bracelet/anklets are very pretty and very clever!
Ludi, I am in love with your embroidery, that looks like it took a LOT of time... and that is one super treasure chest! I can't believe you made that out of a toilet paper tube and box. So great!
Gozer, your ATCS are phenomenal.
Eiseldora, I love your skirt! I can definitely see the River inspiration. And your screenprinting is ahhhmazing!
FreakieGeekie, nice treasure chest, I like the felt covering.
trinalocakary, your choker is gorgeous and a very clever idea for the prime numbers challenge!
La Chapa, Ahhh, so cute! I love his little eyepatch!
LovelyMiss, that is so, so pretty!

Challenge/Battle/Alert: May Randomizer
Team/Ninja:  Commercial Free All-Stars
Project Geekdom (if any): Computers
Bonus Points: Discovery, Nerdy
Project Name:  Plarn + knitted keyboard mat
Brief Description:  Ive liked the plarn items Ive seen around and wanted to try knitting with it, since I dont crochet yet.  Luckily our kitchen is literally a sea of plastic bags, so I picked out a bunch from Target to recycle and made a giant spool of plarn using a generic tutorial.  (I made the spool, too Grin).  My s/o wanted a mat for under his keyboard that raised it a little higher and made it more comfortable (I saw online that you can use plarn to make sleeping mats, so I thought it might work for this, too).  I decided to start with my largest needles, US size 50/25mm and see what happened.  It worked pretty well.  In the end I knitted a roughly 10 x 20 mat that fits perfectly on his desk under his gaming keyboard.  It got his seal of approval, too, and is supposedly comfortably cushy!  Sorry about the photos, this was a weird one to try and photograph. Cheesy

Challenge/Battle/Alert:Multimedia- Red/Blue?  BLUE
Team/Ninja: Team S& M
Project Geekdom (if any): Real World Science & Math
Bonus Points: Nerdy & Super Nerdy
Project Name: Brain Waves Hat
Project Page Link (if available): No individual post (part of 13 in 2013 Hat Along)
Brief Description: While it's a myth that you lose most of your body heat through your head, you will lose heat from your head if it isn't covered! So, for those blustery days and the inevitable snowstorms that will hit the area, a warm hat is essential. A hat that has a tessellating pattern of waves (perhaps a sine and cosine wave merged together), only makes it that much better! This hat is made from 100% acrylic yarn, and is machine washable (just in case you do have an excessively sweaty head...).
