Challenge/Battle/Alert: July Wordy
Team/Ninja:  Commercial Free All-Stars
Project Geekdom:  Yarn/knitting, TV
Bonus Points: Discovery, Nerdy + Super Nerdy
Project Name: Baby blanket 2
Project Page Link: My proverb for this challenge is, Practice makes perfect.   I made a baby blanket earlier in the games, but it didnt turn out quite as I expected (Im still learning the technical aspects of knitting, so I'm all about trial and error  Cheesy ).  I made another over the past few days using Sensations Beautiful yarn in lavender and turquoise.  Its about 2 x 3 and was my first time switching colors in a knitting project!  I imagine the little baby I made this for dragging it around for years (because it's just so soft!), just like Linus from Peanuts (which I always watch on TV whenever I see the specials on Grin )!  Thanks to Eiseldora for the suggestion!  Kiss

Lovelymiss I think you could tie that into nerdy or super nerdy.  Characters have baby blankets. Linus from peanuts, chucky from rugrats, stomegedon from doctor who.

Smiley

I first learned to knit making a baby blanket.  Your project is turning out great so far Smiley

Oh, good idea, Eiseldora!  The blue is really similar to Linus's blanket, so I think I'll go with that!  Thanks for doing some thinking for me!  Cheesy

Challenge: July Textbook
Team-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named
Project Geekdom : none
Bonus Points: EB (Engineering Bonus)
Project Name: Marinated Pasta Salad
Project Page Link: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=425393.0#axzz2YNtQ1ihR
Brief Description: Representing Digestive System: Okay, here is something I make every summer (really any season, but since my mom made it for me in the summer, I make it because it's a yummy memory)  I love this dish.  It's quick to prep, makes a ton, yummy, and gets in those veggies.  My mom used to make it for me every summer; now I make it, with my own twist.  This salad adapts easily and can be adjusted to include what you have on hand or your fave items.

See...looks yummy doesn't it? Grin

And did I mention, it's perfect thing to bring to summer BBQ or picnic.

Okay let's dive in...

Marinated Pasta Salad
1 pound pasta, cooked & cooled (Can be any pasta. I'm using rice noodles because I'm gluten-intolerant.)
3-4 tomatoes, diced
1 cucumber, peeled & diced
1 onion, diced (I'm using red onion because I like the color here)
3/4 to 1 bottle of your fave Italian dressing (to your liking really)
1 Tablespoon salt
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (you don't have to add this, but I like the kick)
Other items you can add: Parmesan cheese, olives (I had a tin of them I threw them into this batch), sesame seeds, bell pepper, parsley, and I have been known to diced up a leftover chicken breast into my serving for dinner.

Combine everything into large bowl.  Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, overnight is better.  Then dish out & enjoy. Grin

Project Name: Grippy Quiddy Mitts
Brief Description: A pair of fingerless mitts I hooked up for myself; I'm sort of addicted to fingerless mitts. Cool

Once again, this thread has exploded over the last day or two that I've missed checking in!
Ludi, once again, I love your embroidery!  I totally pinned it.
Gozer, love the little oogie, and especially that amazing bag!
The decoupage wallets are super cool, and you definitely should be proud of them girl!
Totally inspired to custom my son's switch plate, and I'm totally jealous of those of you who can actually sew clothes!
I love the color of those fingerless mitts, and kudos to all you domestic ladies cooking up some delicious looking dishes and goodies.  I think I'll be trying that pasta salad!
