I often grab a book to use as a backdrop for little crafts, it saves cleaning the table!! I'm so lucky, a bunch of the French users on the bookcrossing site I use got together to send me an entire set of HP since I love reading kids books in French (I'm not up to adult books) and they are so expensive over here Cheesy

I know right?!?! This patch is actually at home with me, and it's my fave of the bunch. Though it was a tough call. Wink

Lovely Miss, Can I copy your teesha moore bag research project? I didnt make it to the swap and I really need one.

Of course!  I can't wait to see all the different patches going on in here.  Wink

I'm definitely challenging myself with this project.  I already want to throw it back into the depths of the closet and forget it for another few years!  I know I'll love it when it's done though...

Thank you!!

SPOILERS!  If you havent read the Gormenghast novels and you plan to and dont want spoilers, stop now!

Challenge/Battle/Alert:  June Battle Royale - Romance

Team:  The Team that goes Bump in the Night

Project Geekdom:  Gormenghast/music

Bonus Points: Nerdy, super nerdy

Project Name: Shrine to Fuchsia

Brief Description:  This project is inspired by the song The Drowning Man by The Cure, which is in turn inspired by scenes and themes from the novel Gormenghast.  The song touches on two tragic romances.  One is Fuchsias romantic attachment to Steerpike, who is revealed to be a murderer.  This knowledge drives her to despair.  The other romance is Doctor Prunesquallors deep love for Fuchsia; tragic because the man who loves her the most is probably incapable of loving her the way she wants or needs to be loved, and he is unable to save her.  My project is a shrine to Fuchsia with lyrics from the song which paraphrase a passage in the novel referring to the Doctors love for her.   The picture of Fuchsia is by her creator Mervyn Peake.  The red jewel represents the ruby the Doctor gives to her.

Great Anne hoop!

Love those TM patches!  I'm starting to warm up to the whole TM thing.  Smiley

Awesome shrine!  I'm starting to want to read those novels.

Your research project sounds really good!

Loved your post on your shadowbox...so many interesting things to see...

Ludi--I think you might have single handedly inspired a bunch of readers of the Gormenghast novels!  You projects are quite intriguing...lovely little shrine!
