Challenge/Battle/Alert: August Wordy
Team/Ninja:  Commercial Free All-Stars
Project Geekdom (if any):  Mystery, fantasy
Bonus Points:  Giver, Nerdy
Project Name:  Scarves for Threads of Compassion
Brief Description:  On the cover of Club Dead, one of the books in The Southern Vampire Mysteries series by Charlaine Harris, Sookie is wearing a red-ish dress and scarf.  I had a few random skeins of Sensations Beautiful yarn, and one of them was also red-ish, so I decided to knit some scarves for Threads of Compassion.  A lot of the book covers in the series make me giggle because of how the vampires are depicted (especially if you dare to compare them to the delightful incarnations on True Blood).

Challenge/Battle/Alert: June Randomizer
Team/Ninja:TWMNBN
Project Geekdom (if any): None
Bonus Points: none
Project Name:  Stepping Stone
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: Painting on a stepping stone is a no-brainer!

Challenge/Battle/Alert: July Wordy
Team/Ninja:TWMNBN
Project Geekdom (if any): none
Bonus Points: none
Project Name: Fox necklace
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: The Proverb for my craft is "long runs the fox": You can see my little fox necklace on the top (if you look closely enough) with the yellow bow.  "Don't run with scissors" (does that count as a proverb?) for the bottom necklace  Wink

Challenge/Battle/Alert: August Randomizer
Team/Ninja: TWMNBN
Project Geekdom (if any): Robots
Bonus Points: none
Project Name: Robot cookie mug
Brief Description: This was my first time painting a ceramic piece.  Its fun not knowing what it will really look like until its fired (because the paint looks different before they fire it).  You can put a cookie in its mouth to have with your coffee.  My alternate reality geekdom is "robots".

The robot mug reminds me of the tin man from Wizard of Oz... especially with his little heart nose!  Cheesy Very cute!

Oh wow! I love all of the latest stuff (went off on a mini-trip and then started school, so I haven't been on here at all... even now, this is just a sneak peek!). Once this session of the Games is over, and the Pinterest page is complete, I will be enjoying all of the awesomeness in one fell swoop. And, it may actually mean that I finally set up a pin board just so I can pin the fabulous geekiness Smiley

Challenge/Battle/Alert: May Wordy
Team/Ninja: Fantasy
Project Geekdom (if any):fantasy (Halloween!)
Bonus Points: super nerdy, discovery
Project Name: Watchful Huck Embroidered Towel
Project Page Link (if available): -
Brief Description: Project Picture:
You are being watched
So wash for 20 seconds,
rinse, then towel dry

I followed a pattern (my first time doing so for huck embroidery/weaving!) for the outer rounded squares. The original pattern had a flowery vine in the middle but they said "eyeballs" more than "dainty" to me so I replaced the flora with pupils!

Challenge/Battle/Alert: June Wordy- a favorite childhood book (A Halloween Happening)
Team/Ninja: fantasy
Project Geekdom (if any): fantasy
Bonus Points: super nerdy, discovery
Project Name: Fall Trees Huck Embroidered Towel
Project Page Link (if available): -
Brief Description: I LOVED the picture book A Halloween Happening as a kid. Actually I still do. It gets set out prominently every October. In it a tree becomes the BEST Halloween attraction ever. In honor of that tree I wove these guys with variegated cotton embroidery thread on huck cloth to make a towel (my 1st time using variegated thread for anything)
Project Picture:

Challenge/Battle/Alert: July Wordy- proverbs (Home is where the heart is and any variation thereof Smiley )
Team/Ninja: fantasy
Project Geekdom (if any): none
Bonus Points: zip
Project Name: Christmas trees huck embroidered towel
Project Page Link (if available): -
Brief Description: A towel can be used in the home! This one is decorated with (make your guesses) huck embroidery! (Were you right? Wink )
Project Picture:

Challenge/Battle/Alert: August Fandom
Team/Ninja: Fantasy
Project Geekdom (if any): sci-fi
Bonus Points: nerdy
Project Name: 4th doctor convertible fingerless mitts/mittens
Project Page Link (if available): -
Brief Description: What was I doing while decorating all those towels? Watching Doctor Who! Daleks scared the heck out of me as a kid (yeah, have no idea why now) but one of my pals talked me into trying it out again and I was hooked. Watching all the new ones became my summer project (still have a few to go...) I supplemented with the old school ones and Sarah Jane Adventures. Fun! But it's nearing the end of August now, so to commemorate my summer vacation I grabbed some t-shirts from the thrift store and made this pair of loosely 4th doctor-inspired accessories. Yep, I didn't have to covet them long Smiley
Project Picture:

Challenge/Battle/Alert: August Multimedia
Team/Ninja: Fantasy
Project Geekdom (if any): -
Bonus Points: discovery
Project Name: glue resist dyed scarf
Project Page Link (if available): -
Brief Description: I've loved muppets since Sesame Street and Muppet Babies. In  the latter the simplest things became so much more with a little imagination (a potted plant = jungle, couch = pirate ship). In this project washable school glue became a dye resist! I doodled little lines and shapes zentangle-style, let dry, dyed, then washed. I read in several places that only the gel type would work but I couldn't find any and a handful of sites I found said the regular school glue worked for them. It worked for me too!

Wow C, you've been busy! I love every item, but I think the Christmas trees and the convertible mitts are my favorites. Did you use a tutorial for the mitts, or did you just make them up all by your awesome self? Wink Smiley

Thanks, Sticker! I don't know about awesome but I did the mitts myself, no tutorial. Looked at a bunch of pictures, though!  Smiley
