Here is a close up of the mug rug I made for Annigirl22 in the Mug Rug Swap RD 5.  I was inspired by something I saw on her pinterest.  The flower is muslin, folded origami style and stitched to secure.

The lily pad itself is free pieced from a bunch of different green fabrics.  I used tear away stabilizer as my foundation.

It is bound pillowcase style and then machine quilted around the edge.  I forgot to get a picture of the backing.  It is a geometric turquoise print.

The mug rug is made from quilter's cottons.  It has a cotton batting.  It is machine and hand pieced and machine quilted.  It measures approximately 10 x 12 inches overall.

Oh, beautiful! I can picture a frog jumping right from the lily pad into the mug.

That is brilliant. It'd be great with just a plain lilypad, but the patchwork makes it spectacular. And fabric origami - who'd have thought? That opens up so many possibilities!

What a beautiful mug rug!

Origami fabric...sounds very intriguing...you certainly used it to best effect!  Of course, I always love your patchwork!

I would use the lily to hide my tiny chocolate candy for my afternoon treat! Cheesy

Sorry I was not clear.  It is fabric origami.  No special fabric, just well starched muslin.
