Why not just challenge craftsters to work up something using a specific "material" rather than a specific theme. Then see what they come up with. The material to be used for the challenge might be for example: straws, balloons, dry sponges, old toy wheels...whatever you can think of! That ought to get the creative juices flowing.

Love it!  We've done quite a few of these (shoe box, book, beads, mixed media, food, pencils & crayons, etc.).

Love some of your suggestions.  Balloons would be REALLY fun!
