this was such fun  Grin  Grin  Grin

I haven't been doing so much crafty stuff lately and spend way too much time on the computer today, but my daughter is working on a lino cut project for her art exam this week..so I was inspired..

there is a ton of lino in my house and two pink flamingos in the garden (honey and booboo).. I thought they should be immortalised in fabric...

I freehanded the lino cut and freehanded the placement of the images on the fabric, the white one was done first and I refined the lino cut as I moved from right to left...

then I went onto the green fabric, this was a vintage sheet from a thrift shop...

and then some cards and bits of paper as I was having SO much fun!!...

I added the colour with a paintbrush and was happily doing that when I spilled the painting water all over the bottom right hand corner of the green fabric, so a bit of wet on wet going on there...

EDIT...today I made a bag out of the fabrics...it makes me smile!

comments and criticism always welcome

So fun!! I think it looks cute on the white fabric but I love it paired with that vintage floral. It looks so tropical -  you should make a Hawaiian shirt from it Smiley.

that would be so cool!...not enough fabric though as I already used some of it...I think this piece (it is about 1/2 yard)...will be good as a bag

I was wondering how you managed to get the pink feathers and orange beak so perfectly registered! I'm glad that you said you painted that part of the flamingo, because otherwise, I'd never attempt this if I had to match it all up. nicely done!

i was thinking about how to do this to get it perfectly registered and if I were doing a bigger piece, or one where it needed to be perfectly painted..I would have to figure that out, I guess by leaving one square corner on the block and measuring it out..but the nature of this image meant that a 'rough' painting of the body of the flamingo looks better than if it were solid and flat....plus I am not the most patient person in the world an I was having too much fun to break out the ruler!

I have one of those "stamp positioner" things, and I'm wondering if that could help with the registration. But, I agree, sometimes, a paintbrush is better!

And, I love how you used the fabrics to make a bag. Well done!

Flamingos always make me smile too! The bag turned out really cute!!! I had a flamingo tote I bought from the store ages ago that wasn't nearly as cute as this!! And your lino stamps are amazing!
