I designed and constructed this leather skirt for a class project. I made it from a used leather coat! I cut the coat apart completely and took out the original stitching because of course, since it was for school, all the stitching needed to be done by me. It's definitely not perfect but I'm really happy with it because I had never worked with leather before! It was challenging but hopefully the next ones I make will get easier!  It has a side zipper and a lining.

Yeah...the bottom is not hemmed. I wanted to but decided against it for now because of the design. Since it angles/flares out some, I worried that the hem would be stiff and flare out too much. I like the way it drapes when it is unhemmed. I know for next time to design it a little differently.

This was the coat I cut up. I still have some pieces left to make other fun stuff!

Wow great work! I have a ginormous leather coat I found at a thrifty store I was going top do something with but every time I look at it I get scared because of the leather.  You have more guts than me! Very awesome job!

Sewing leather must be hard to do, but you make a great job doing it.

It was definitely a challenge! It required lots of planning and research. Once you stitch into leather, those holes are there to stay!

Ah! I love the skirt and I love the top you're wearing with it. You totally remind me of a sexier Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I could totally see you kicking some ass in that skirt! Great job!
