this looks fabulous..I am buying a small house and have to put down floors too. Did you insulate underneath? or just lay the board ontop of the plywood?...any other essential tips?

I never cease to be amazed at how big houses in your part of the world are. The entire ground floor of my new house, that is living room/kitchenette/ stairs...would fit very very comfortably in that room!

beautiful and modern...I love your stone fireplace!  It adds an element of nature to your room...I bet you did save a lot doing it yourself...labor is the most expensive part!

Can't wait to see the rest of your projects!

edelc--your home is quite lovely and has history! Larger homes mean more work, more money and more to heat! Cheesy

We laid an underlayment down. It is made of recycled tires and really insulates the sounds the floors make. The brand of boards we bought require it for the warranty but it is definitely worth the time and money.

As for other tips, wear steel toed boots! I kept kicking the boards to lock them into place and by the end of it, the bottom of my foot was actually bruised!

Alwaysinmyroom is right! More square footage, more problems! Lol

The new floors look great, and with the freshened up paint it really looks like a different room!  I'm sure it was a ton of work to lay that floor, but it was really worth it.  I dream of the day when I can get out of rentals and have hardwood floors!  I really really love the stone fireplace too, and the seating arrangement you made around it.

edelc--your home is quite lovely and has history!:D

well this tiny home that I am buying for a mon-fri, term time home...has a lot of history..it is small, but what is odd, is that according to the 1911 census a family of three lived there..mam, dad and baby girl..what is interesting is that the mams first name is the same as my second name (elizabeth) and the baby girls name is the same as my daughters second name (Eileen)..I just need to meet a man with the second name of George..and then spooky music will start to play!!

Such an amazing remodel!  Love the after photo.  I am quite jealous of that lovely fire place.
