I am the girl anachronism!

Hello everyone!

My best friend's birthday is this month and she loves Sex and the City. I got the idea to do a themed gift here on the boards, and as part of it I am going to have 4 parts of the gift, one box representing each girl. I've had no problems with the Carrie and Samantha boxes, but Charlotte and Miranda are proving to be a little more trouble. Do any of you lovely crafty ladies have any ideas that you would like to share?

Much thanks for reading!

maybe this thread will give you some ideas....  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=22355.0

as far as Charlotte, you can maybe do a grosgrain ribbon belt (b/c charlotte is preppy), an ettiquete book, pearls, classic stuff.

miranda....i'm not too sure. carries my fav.lol

For Charlotte you could do Jackie O sunglasses since she loves Jackie  O.  Or how about 'The Rabbit' vibrator? A little spendy but a gift she won't forget!

You could use a Tiffany & Co box for Charlotte's gift. If you don't have one (why, don't we all? Wink), it would be easy to make by wrapping a box in "Tiffany blue" paper and tying it up with a white satin ribbon:

Of course... she might get overly excited, thinking you bought her something from Tiffany's!

I live on the west coast. She lives on the east coast. We discuss crafts in between. Right here: Trans-craft-inental.

Hmmm...I always thought of Charlotte as the Preppy Princess, waiting for her knight in shining armor and only getting bald lawyers and impotent kiltsters.  A book of art, a bottle of mints in a prozac bottle (remember when she dumped the guy who chose porzac over orgasms?) and a tiara.

I always identified with Miranda.  Book of lawyer jokes, tiny liquor bottles (symbolic of her tiny bartender), a pair of comfy pajamas in an unexpected print (maybe hot dogs as a reference to the "Eat me" guy?), mints in a fake birth control pack.  Cake and dish soap?

This is harder than I thought.  When my best friend was going through her Bridget Jones phase, I made her a Bridget basket.  I gave her a journal and a nice pen, the soundtrack to the first movie, the second novel, a box of Milk Tray, a pack of Silk Cut, and a bottle of decent white wine.  And considering I'm in Arizona, procuring the Cadbury and cigs were no mean feat!  But it was a huge hit.

for miranda, you could put in a symbolic baby item, like a rattle? or a giant cookie with 'I love you' on it, hehe. you could always get a little briefcase, too, what else....miranda is probably the most difficult of all of the characters. ooh, you could get a fancy pen (or slightly fancy looking pen) for your friend to use instead of the cheapie bic types, et all. think something business-like. you could also get her a pack of spiffy feeling paper - not decorative stationary, but rather, paper made from cotton, or a thicker material - i know tons of lawyers who could go on for days about the 'feel' or 'quality' of the paper they used, hehe.

when i think charlotte, i think that tiny silver bow necklace she wore a lot. it would be easy to re-create very cheaply because a ton of online bead stores sell little silver bow charms for around 2-6 bucks, and you could just grab a cheapie silver chain. I might also include a frilly little half apron, because she always thought that baking was the best way to say im sorry! other than that, a plastic toy knight? old maid cards?

ahh i love this show. i forgot how much i love it! in fact, i shall go watch me some dvds right now!
good luck with the gift!

They sell this necklace at some shops online like here:http://www.emitations.com/sexandcitnec.html?up=CELEBRITYLOOK It's a little pricier than making it,but oh well. I just started watching the show a few months ago and I love it! I can't believe I can't think of anything for Charlotte....I think I'm a lot like her  Wink. Good luck, the gift is a really neat idea!

I'm not a lawyer or a princess Wink, but somehow i identified with both Miranda and Charlotte!

Miranda....how about those Borghese hand mitts....there was that one episode about the indulgences they liked to do in secret, at home.....they may be expensive, but i'm sure target has something like it.  It'd be funny to get a box of devils food cake mix and tie a tiny bottle of dish detergent on it (that one episode where she had to dump detergent in her trash to stop from eating the cake)  a Tasti DLite gift cert (i don't know where she lives)  oh and miranda couldn't live without her Tivo and DSL, maybe one of those free DSL CDs you can get.

Charlotte....a little stuffed Cavalier King Charles puppy?  if you're friend's into decorating/crafts, maybe a copy of i forget the name of the magazine Charlotte was photographed for right when she and trey broke up....i think it was like a home or decorating magazine or something, anyhow, a copy of the magazine with some pretty fabric and some coordinating ribbon tied to it.  I love the tiffany box idea!

Wow....it's been a while since i watched it.....that's all i got for now!

I'd love to see pics of what you end up with!

For Miranda, the first thing that came to mind was tge Giant Cookie she ate that Robert had spelled 'I love you' on.

So, maybe not 'I love you' but 'Happy Birthday' on a Giant Cookie?
