I don't know why so many times I put pictures on here they are sideways...so sorry!

I decided  I wanted to do an embroidery for my daughter's 1st grade teacher for her end of year gift, and I came across this cute coloring page.  I used a metallic blue fabric paint for the outline of the school house, and pink fabric paint for the hearts and sliver for the stairs.

I used several stitches. I used the simple backstitch on the school house and the tree bark. I used the rope stitch for the purple, and I used the "v" stitch...ah, whatever it's called for the green around the trees.

I decided to make it into a bag for  her teacher. I had seen on Pinterest a "school supply cake" and decided to make it a bag instead. I decided to use bias tape around the edges of the embroidery so I could just sew it to the outside of the bag.

Close up of my stitching. Thanks for looking.

Just the paint was metallic. The threads were normal. And, thanks!

I need to find you stitch charts with names included. The green stitching is chain stitch. The purple is stem stitch a.k.a. outline stitch.  Grin Looks like you're ready to expand your stitch repetoire. Doing a great job on your projects! Love the way you've mixed paint and embroidery on the same piece! Very effective! I know DD's teacher will really appreciate her gift.

Thanks! yeah, I was drawing a blank on stitch names when I posted that....I've been thinking looking for an embroidery book with more stitches. I usually stick with the back stitch because it's easy, but I had fun working the others as well.

Very lovely embroidery and super cute bag. I like how you made something useful and still artistic. I like your choice of colors and design.

Maybe you could sign it or add your daughter's name on it.
