Can I have some fishy crackers?

I have had a major girl crush on Poison Ivy since I first read about her. I don't really know why I like her so much..but...being the ridiculous comic book nerd that I am...I'm cool with it Cheesy So my husband surprised me with tickets to Boston Comic Con this weekend and I almost cried I was so excited...I've always wanted to go to a convention! Since we were crunched for time, and I was in charge of making both of our costumes, I picked Ivy because hers is very straightforward, and spent about 3 days sewing leaves like mad onto the body suit I made. I also dyed my tights because I couldn't find any in the color I wanted. I'll upload more pictures after the con, but I snapped a few really quick because I couldn't wait to share! Cheesy

Weird shot, I know, but I ended up making the bodysuit in two pieces, a top and a bottom, because I didn't relish the idea of wriggling out of the whole thing every time I had to use the restroom lol!

Communing with nature Smiley

I also made my husband's Robin costume. He wanted a toned down, not super floofy costume, so we kinda went for the steampunk vibe.

Progress...

Due to the horrific and unbelievably devastating events that took place this week in Boston, the Con may end up being called off, but I wanted to show you guys my progress! Thanks for looking!

Super awesome! Love the hair too. What did you use to color the tights?

You look great! As an avid bodysuit wearer, I like your separates, and the leaves totally disguise the pieces. Have a good time!

Well Done! The idea of doing separates was ingenious.

Thank you everyone!! They did end up canceling it...but there will be others!

I'm actually wearing two pair of tights, lol! I dyed them with koolaid and food coloring...it was so easy!

That's really nice!  It's totally ingenious the way you made it two pieces.  I didn't even notice until you pointed it out!

It's disappointing they had to cancel, but you'll be ready for next time!

After you sewed on all those leaves, was there much stretch to your separates?

Yes and I no. I stretch the pieces over a big pillow and sewed the leaves on, so that helped. It still took some of the stretch out though. If I had more time, looking back, I'd probably not sew the leaves intot he other leaves at much so they have more movement.

Wow that outfit is absolutely amazing!!

I hope they refund your tickets or give you tickets to the reschedule (or the one for next year) since you already had your tickets, especially if they saw the amount of work that went in to it I know I'd feel compelled to make sure you got to go after all that!! Epic job!! ( i think you make a better Ivy than the one in the movie!)

Great costumes, I love how you did the body suit and your take on Robin.  You will need to find another Comic Con to wear them to as they are too good to not show off.

I super love how you made your poison ivy costume . Totally rocks! Yes, I agree with dyeing tights. Its not easy to find the right color. It is not a waste that the event got cancelled. At least you were able to share to us this sexy poison ivy costume of yours.
