Well I have a project I can post since it was received by my partner in the Make a Friend swap.  It's not round anymore since I took it out of the hoop and made it into a mug rug so it may not fit the theme anymore but I am going to share anyway!

Here is the Tardis mug rug I made for geekgirl1000100

I liked it a lot more before I decided to "quilt" it.....

I am sure she loved it...I love the Dr. Who embroideries!

Here is my round embroidery: First, a little story...My mom is Japanese so I have been trying to make things related to this part of my heritage.  Lately, I have been fascinated with kabuki (Japanese theater) and all of the costumes and masks that are used in the plays.  I found a book of about 100 different masks...I knew I wanted to do something so when the pincushion swap came up, I decided I could make a mask and sew it on a pincushion.

Fortunately, Ludi was my partner as I think it turned out quite spooky and creepy....I am not sure I want to do anything else with the masks now except read about them...and then close the book, stash it under the bed, and keep the light on... Grin

It is embroidered on white cotton sheeting, colored with watercolor pencils, and the teeth are highlighted with metallic fabric paint...the base is a jar lid...it is round... Grin

Both are so clever!

I am a huge Dr. Who fan and the tardis is awesome!

I think you really captured the feel of the Kabuki mask. Good idea with fabric paint.

Here are two hoops that I did. Two more are in swaps so I can't post them yet.

First, a happy birthday cake for my friend Lisa.

I stitch up this cute little mermaid for Helena Puck in the Make a Friend swap.

Im thinking the quilting gives the Tardis a Wibbly Wobbly look  Wink
Love the detail and textures on the mask and I agree its kinda creepy, if I put it under the bed I would need to sleep with the lights on!  Grin
Yummy cake! May daughter walked by when I was scrolling and I had to give her time to check out the mermaid.

My stitching is done, but I decided to tint the hoop so finished picture will be posted over the weekend.

Great pieces. And it might be kind of therapeutic stabbing the creepy kabuki mask with pins.

Kitty I love the mermaid hoop.

EEK!
I love that dapper skeleton!

It's been a busy Sept. but I was able to finally finish my hoop last night.

Veronica

"but she used to have a carefree mind of her own, and a devilish look in her eye..."

I love this song by Elvis Costello so much! And my mind has been on Alzheimer's (keeping an eye on my dad) a great deal lately...so this hoop was nice and therapeutic.
