I love French knots!  I would love to do one of those negative space embroideries surrounded by French knots...after you swirl the thread around your needle three times, hold down the wraps and pull the needle through to make the knot.Be sure to poke your needle back through into your fabric.

I learned from this tutorial by Troublet... Cheesy

http://thetroublewithcrafting.blogspot.com/2011/03/french-knot.html

I agree. I never could understand how to do them. Then I found her tutorial and now I have no problem with them.

Beautiful, deathbeforedishes!
I've never tried the negative space thing before. Maybe the next hoop I'll have to give it a try!

I'm in the "Love French Knots" camp. It's one of my favorite fill ins!

Finally got a few french knots done. I watched a video and saw what I was doing wrong... I wasn't holding out the thread to swirl and then pull through! The me before the video wouldn't understand this post, but the video was a big help.

Finished! It's still not exciting and I learned along the way that eye-balling your design produces misaligned lettering/design, so I'll chart next time! With embroidery, I find I can just sort of "draw" with the needle, whereas cross stitching requires planning. This project also needs a smaller hoop.

So here's the explanation for A Few of My Favourite Things hoop. The lyrics are from Queen's "You're My Best Friend", which my DH and I have claimed as ours, the four hearts represent our children, and the rainbow colours are for my love of a new box of crayons (and the way they smell).

I am close to being done with my hoop. I'm not super happy with it, maybe once its finished, I will like it more.

I'm really excited about next month's theme...only a week away!

Woohoo! Can't wait to see everyone's hoop! It's hard to believe that we are already getting a new theme; where did the month go?
