How about inspirational pictures? When I get home I can take a picture of the wing-back chair I reupholstered a few years ago... (after I vacuum the dog hair off it...)

Best of 2013 winner, but this is just as good.

Here is the rocker that I reconstructed awhile back.

It doesn't have any reupholstery on it, but it was reconstructed because it had fallen apart and I saved it from the landfill.

And I would love to find a chair and learn some caning skills

My dad taught himself how to cane chairs. He did all mom's kitchen chairs, and redid an old rocking chair for my daughter. It's very cool!

Awesome rainbow rocker!  Filing that idea away for later.....

I've got several pieces that need doing, and this is the kick-in-the-pants I need.  There's a beautiful solid oak rocker I found on the curb that probably needs stripping and staining -- not to mention dealing with those pesky springs!

I also have 4 kitchen chairs my *father* actually rescued from someone's trash -- that have been sitting on my front porch for a year.

A old sewing machine cabinet.

An old victrola stand.

And... and ... and ....

Fund drive starts this week at work, but I'll start marshalling my thoughts and gathering my supplies!

I just found a chair to use for when I am sewing at Goodwill with the intent on fixing it up! This is perfect timing!
I also have some shelves and other pieces of furniture I found on the curb that needs some redoing. Since my town is a college town and since move out day is the same for every apartment building, students tend to leave perfectly wonderful things on curbs all over town when they leave for their hometowns. We call it "Hippie Christmas" and it is one of my favorite days of the year! Smiley

Haha! The town I went to college in tried to combat that by having "spring clean-up week" a few weeks before move out with free curbside pickup. You threw whatever you didn't want out to the curb and the national guard would pick it up and take it to the landfill. I got so much awesome stuff curb shopping!

I have a chair that I started redoing last year. Here's how far I've gotten:

I was going to use this fabric (tan and off white ticking stripe) to cover the seat:

Then I found the burlap coffee sacks and my local fleet and farm.
One side:

the other side:

Which one do you guys like? Right now I'm kind of partial to the burlap with just the blue stripe.

Sorry these pics aren't the greatest, can't find my camera so I had to use my cell phone.

I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.

Ooooo, yay! This sounds fun! Two chairs in my living room are in dire need of slipcovering or reupholstery. Would slipcovering count as re-making?

To be honest, I prefer the striped fabric.
(Lovely chair!)
