I did it! I did it! I did it! I finally bit the bullet and busted out my drawing fluid and screen filler. I just finished printing my first test fabrics and they turned out pretty good. Now to screen print on everything!!!

I wasn't thinking properly and purchased my fabric in a neutral tone.  So I started off by adding one of my swap partners favorite colors: green.

Utilizing all of the tutorials that Sheep posted as well as a book from Hibby Libby, I realized that I could use stuff from around the house to do most of the printing.  First off, a scrumbled paper to print a bit of blue.

Then some of LimeRiot's bubble wrap in red.  Thanks for the tutorial Lime!

And a piece of something I pulled out of my sister's trash can that had a neat texture.  I printed this in another green.  Now I have a background to start with.  And thanks to y'all, I've only had to purchase the fabric and the textile medium  Grin

Now to re-carve my potato stamps...

It's so exciting reading everyone's posts!  I can't wait to see all the treasures.
I've printed out a free stencil on paper.  LOVE that free stuff.  And added yellow oak leaves.  That's the state tree of my swap partner and she likes nature.

To make it more abstract/artsy for lewlou, I'm adding some blueishy numbers from another stencil I already have.

Can I say that at this point I'm starting to feel scared that it may not make it through the wash?  Oh why oh why didn't I do test prints like y'all have suggested???

I've re-carved my potatoes and stamped them in a similar red to the bubble wrap.

No more photos as I want it to be a surprise.  It's all done.  I've reread all of the instructions and tidbits and am very afraid that the layers will wash off.  I'm waiting the full 24 hours till I heat-set with my iron so that will be tonight.  Then a few days before washing, right?  Does everyone really wait the few days?  One place said 7 days, another said 4 days.

If it all comes off in the wash, it will be back to the drawing board.  Now I know why some of you started so early!!!  Do you put it in the washing machine?  Or handwash?  Ahhhh.... Such a newbie here  Grin
