hi everyone! hope you're all well. these paintings are from my undergrad thesis show. i painted north korean propaganda posters, each one dealing with an different aspect of north korean life. they do exactly the opposite of what actual propaganda does- they show things as they are. yanno, it's really strange.. when i started these, it was because people knew very little about north korea and the situation. by the time i finished them, though, there was something about north korea on the news every single day.
anyway. all the paintings are acrylic, at about 36in x 48in (i think. i don't have the measurements with me, sorry!)

religion

starvation

military

nuclear warfare

defectors

EDIT

i took a photo of what everything looked like hung up!

& for anyone who might be interested, here's a link to the video of me talking about my work on thesis night. my dad recorded it for me, haha!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZLJaN7-Rko&feature=youtu.be

hopefully i didn't sound too much like a fool! there were probably over 150 people there so i was a little nervous, lol

Whoa, you got mad skillz. They are very moving pieces, some of them hard to look at, like the military one. The eyes on the starvation one, wow. Which was your favorite to paint?

thank you! hmmm... the religion one was a lot of fun for me to paint. by "fun" i guess i mean most engrossing, or something haha. they all had their good & bad parts, but i enjoyed that one the most.

Very powerful images and you are talented not only in painting ability, but in getting the deep meaning/feeling in paint.

haha, thank you. i'm in my 5th year of university as a painting/ceramics concentration, but i've been painting for as long as i can remember. i'd say i've been painting serious though since high school, so let's say 9-10 years maybe?

These are really beautiful (and haunting).  What a great project.

thank you! i appreciate it :]

Oh, these are so sad and wonderful at the same time.  I think you did a really great job of touching the viewer's heart.  Starvation is my favorite - sort of - it made me want to cry, but also I wish I could hang it on my wall because it is such a wonderfully rendered piece.

You should be very proud of this series!
